You will only be able to play PAL games. NTCS games, which will be sold here in the U.S. will not work, unless they are multi region which there are a few xbox games that workn on both (Halo 2 i think was one).

It depends. Some games are region locked, and will only play in the region, they are made for, similarly to DVDs.
However, some Microsoft Game Studio games, do *not* have this region lockout. But then you will have the problem of the NTSC and PAL difference, between US/Japanese Xboxes and European Xbox consoles.
So, since there is no sure way to know, which game is region locked, yuo can only play European games on your UK Xbox 360.
