I have been working for this co for over a year now. I have been in three different positions and truley beleive they would be lost without me. Unfortunately my title at work puts me in one of the most lowest positions there is. Other departments give there employees promotions by adding "Senior" to there title. I am not asking for a raise because i received one, a very small one, at my 1 yr mark. But i want to bne known in the co as being very competent in my job and someone that could take the reigns when needed. Help me.

I have had someone use the following approach with me and found it effective as their leader: In one of our regular meetings, she let me know that her career goals involved moving up. She asked me directly what types of things the person looked for in considering someone for promotion. She also asked me what specifically she could do to be even more effective, and she did it!

I don't know what your job description is or what type of work you do. That might be easier to answer knowing that.

Do not get angry but your grammar is not good and you have incorrect spelled words. That is not a good sign.

Sit down this week end and do the following and then set up a meeting with your manager to discuss it:
You document everything you have achieved in the past year on paper. Present what you have added to the company to make it better. You have to prove to the higher ups that they cannot live without you. Explain to them you need more challenges. You have a lot of ambition, drive and motivation to move up.

Then you ask them if they can give you a plan to reach the goals you just presented.

Let him know your a hard worker and that you deserve to have the title, I mean show him you have a little backbone to even ask, they like that, look him right in the eye with pride and knowing you can do the job right and just go for it other wise your partner next to ya is gonna do it and probably get your job you want! Really, "Think about it" What do you have to loose by asking to better yourself? Go for it girlfriend! Life is just to short to wait! sunnydays

when you do your job properly, you have two choices either ask for it or look in some other co.

in your co you can ask for a certain title and what it is gonna take for you, self development, to do it. ask this to your direct manager. do what is is necessary and ask again or go to option no 2

Don't ask! Keep working hard, and he should give you a promotion, if not, he's not being fair, and you should just find a new job.
