I'm only 34 years old but grew up in the foothills of West Virginia. I am in no way "redneck." I have all of my teeth, am college educated and own shoes. In fact few people would guess that I even listen to country music by looking at me. But I love it. New and old - but especially the old. Gene Watson, Merle Haggard, Johnny Rodriguez, Charlie Rich, Charlie Pride, George Jones. The list goes on and on. I would love to meet an attractive girl my age who likes it as well. They don't seem to exist here in South Florida.

They just don't make country music like they used to. It's too popish. Some of this crap they put on the radio now and call it country is nothing but sell outs and wanna be pop artists. Don't get me wrong there are still a few good songs that come out. But by and large give me the old stuff! By the way you can still be a redneck and have a college degree, teeth, and wear shoes. I have all of that, and would proudly call myself a redneck. I work hard, and play hard. I belive in simple southern values. I however am not white trash. I may live in a trailer, but it's decorated with pottery barn. No wonder you can't find this in Florida, you missed the part on the map where Florida broke off of the North East and floated on down.

Country music just isn't what it started out as any more. I grew up in the 60s, and 70s, and remember Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Kenny Rogers, John Denver, and Dolly Parton. Their songs were sweet and sentimental, and conveyed a message. Today's country music has followed in the footsteps of rock, and portrays nothing but lust, greed, cheating, and drinking. Of course there are nice exceptions such as Randy Travis.

I like Conway Twitty and Don Williams and Waylon Jennings, but don't tell anyone. Lol. I'm 17 years old, and me and my dad used to listen to that type of music when I was younger, and it just kind of stuck with me! But no one else that I kno listens to that. They don't even know who those people are! But good luck finding the girl for you. My boyfriend doesn't know that I know who those people are...he prob. wouldn't even have a clue who they are either because he's black. Lol. & he just wouldn't know. Haha!
