Um, this is kind of akward, but I have two questions, and I don't really want to ask my mom or anyone in person.
1. The other day, I noticed white mucousy stuff on my underwear (about the size of my pinky-nail). What is this- discharge? Mucous from my cold that somehow turned white and got on my underwear? I'm some type of sh-man and this is semen? Usually I wear colored underwear, so have I gotten this before and never noticed it/thought the stain-things were pee?
2. Presuming I am not a hermaphrodite, when do you think I might get my period? I am 13 1/2, 5'6, 105 lbs. I grew 6 inches in the past year and a half, and gained 35 lbs. My chest is a 30A, and I first noticed it when I was almost 12. My mom got hers when she was 12, so that time has come and gone a long time ago.
I realize that this is TMI, and an akwqard question, and I apologize for that. But I will be awarding best answer. Thanks

1) its simply discharge, nothing to worry about at all! just your body cleaning itself out. totally 100% normal!!!!!!!!! the vagina is self cleaning and does this from time to time, especially during hormonal changes.
you might be getting your period soon, because of that happening now. dont worry!! youre normal! :)
2) my sister got her period on her 13th birthday. just keep tampons and pads handy in case! but i didnt get mine until i was 15. dont stress ok?
its totally great that you asked this question. i knew girls in college who had never talked to their moms about stuff like this! its your body you should know all about it. :)
if it is a weird color (green, yellow, etc..) or it burns or smells REALLLLYYYY weird, then ask to go to the doctor. it sounds like you dont have any infections or anything so dont worry, just make sure you wipe front to back, and use baby wipes when you need to.

First of all you are not a hermaphrodite. LOL.. sorry sweetie. You are a girl. That is discharge and it is completely normal. I would think with you getting it that you should be starting your period sometime in the next month or so. Do you have hair under your armpits? Usually you will get your period within 6 months of hair growing there. At least that is my experience. Hard to say if you have gotten it before or not. I think you would have noticed. Semen is not mucous. It is more watery. I hope this answers your question and helps you to feel more at ease about what is going on with your body.

The discharge is normal. Your period will come whenever. Everyone is different. My mom started when she was 11 or 12, but I turned 15 and still hadn't had one. I ended up seeing a doctor and being put on hormones to start my periods at 15 because of some problems I had with my female organs. Try to enjoy the fact that you don't have to deal with the period mess while it lasts. Once you start you'll have to deal with it for years. Good Luck!

This is a common thing, don't worry. If you've never had your period before, I'd say it may be coming soon. I first noticed that discharge a few days or so (can't be sure on that, it was a long time ago :P ) before my first period started.
I would recommend telling your mom. You're not a weirdo or anything, so unless she IS, then she will understand :P I wish I had been able to say something rather than have my brother walk in on me.... ewwwww. I didn't live with my mom, so it took me YEARS to catch on to things. It will be so much easier on you both if you let her know what's happening with you, that way she can give you advice and such.
Good luck, I know it's hard.

It's nothing to be worried about. It's just the lubrication that a woman's body makes when she is ovulating... it helps with reproduction. You might want to wear a light pad on your underwear so that it doesn't mess them up. You may only see it during certain times of the month... it may come and go.
And about your period well it all depends but you may get it when you are 14

That mucus is just discharge. ALL women get discharge,no biggie. You can wear a panty line(thin pad) to prevent stains. We cant say when youll get your period,it can come any time. I got mine at 13. Some gils dont until 16.
BTW, as a mom myself,I would hope my daughter would be able to come to me. talk to your mom,let her help you with your girl issues. She's been there, she wont think your gross. Weve asked the SAME questions.

Your period could come any time, by if you you are still a virgine the it is not likely to be semon. Wemon dicharge this when they have yeast infection or some time whn they have colds the body trys to get ride of infecction. Or you may have a blatter infection starting. either way nothing to be ashamed of. Knowlage is the key. but honey you need to find a way to talk to your mom she can be the biggest help to you, even if you are shy.

Well guess what, you're getting you're period in a few months or maybe days? You're fully developed to get it. Ussually you get the white discharge a year or so before your first period (that's whathappend to me) that's to make you know how you'll feel when you do get it. Use pantiliners when you get the discharge! Don't be so happy to be getting your period cuz trust me, it's annoying! For more help, go to www.beinggirl.com good luck!
