My son wants a Wii for Christmas (Who Doesn't!?!). Anyway, I'm going to the store REALLY EARLY to get it and can't leave him home alone, I'll have to take him with me. He knows I have been looking for one to give him for Christmas. If I'm successful and he's with me when I get it, is it cruel to make him wait until Christmas to get it or is it ok to give it early?

I would make him wait, especially if he's not getting anything else to open on Christmas.

If you are lucky enough to get one this year, I would make him wait. Children need to learn patience. Plus, I don't know if this is his only gift, since it costs a small fortune- but I'm sure anything else he will get is going to pale in comparison. In addition, if it IS the only gift he will get, he will feel left out on Christmas Day if he sees everyone else opening presents, and has nothing to open.
Personally, If it's such an important thing, I'd make a serious effort to find a baby sitter or someone who will watch him for a few hours so you can go get it and wrap it. How about asking a friend's parent if he can stay over for a "slumber party"? Hope this helps.

If you are lucky enough to score such a gift for your son, don't you dare give it to him early! Christmas morning will be even more enjoyable for him, if the gift is new, one he has not yet savored in any way. Put it out of sight (perhaps wrapped) immediately and make him wait. You won't be sorry ... and neither will he.

Merry Christmas!

Make him wait....Christmas is not too far only a few days. Tell him that it would be nicer to open it on Chirstmas morning.
