Should fast-food corporations be responsible for some one getting fat. There has been lawsuits against MCDonald's who parents of kids are sueing because MCD's got their kids fat. Your thoughts.

Hell no they aren't responsible. Their job is to make you want the food, It is completely up to you, the consumer, to eat it. They cant force you to buy their product.

No. You can't sue McDonald's because you weren't responsible enough to exercise. There's a guy who plays for the NFL i saw who eats strictly McDonalds and he has less than 10% body fat.

The only people who get fat off fast food are the people who don't work it off. If anything the parents need to stop buying the 2 liter sodas with fructose and have their kids drink water, make their kids do chores and exercise rather than sitting in front of the PS3 inhaling cheetos nonstop or just take personal responsibility for their BAD PARENTING.

They're the ones who are looking to blame someone else for their ills rather than take responsibility for their actions. Once you dump the crybaby victim mentality and actually DO something about the problem then you'll start to feel a lot better.

Now get off that computer and get on that treadmill because fat will NEVER be sexy!

The real answer here is that both the companies and their customers are responsible for the rising trend in obesity and health problems. What used to be viewed as a convenience is now taken for granted. What used to be a once in a while treat has become a nearly daily indulgence. Also to blame is the overabundance of places that sell cheap, tasty food; the self-centered, convenience-obsessed populace and plain human laziness. Corporate marketing, especially to children has also become a large factor in this modern trend. The powers that be WANT you to be a fat, stupid, lazy consumer while they drain your wallet and your soul via various methods. What they want are willing victims to their corporate serfdom, people who actually believe the gilded lies they spin on a daily basis. Until people realize what is really happening in this screwed up, @$$-backwards, money-obsessed country, this problem (which is just a symptom of a larger one) will only get worse. After all, why deal with the real root causes of an issue when there's no profit in it?

No, they should not be responsible. People should just stop eating at the fast food places and then we would not have this problem.

Once again, somebody eats regularly at these places, gets fat (like a lot of Americans) and then wants to blame somebody. Hey, listen people. STOP EATING AT PLACES LIKE MCDONALDS AND BURGER KING. They want you to continue eating there cause they make millions off you.

Honestly. Same old sue culture. No wonder everything is getting more and more expensive in this country and the economy is getting worse.

If you get fat eating fast food, stop eating fast food and go to the gym once in a while. Everything is drive through. Lazy bastards. Walk somewhere. Drive though drop off and pick up at schools! What a joke! No wonder people are so unfit. They can't possibly park their car and walk 100 yards. I park, walk and get the kids and am back in my car before the person I walked past in the drive through line has even gotten their kids!

Um no McDonalds didn't shove the food down the kids throat. The parents should know that fries and burgers aren't healthy. I don't think everything needs a warning label. Somethings are just common since. You learn in school Health class what is healthy food and what isn't. Why is it the fast food restrauants fault you drove through the drive through? It is just like a smoker that smoked all their life and dies of lung cancer and their family sues the cigarett company?!! That is stupid did the person not know that you will get lung cancer from smoking? Come on Give me a break. Sorry stuff like this really bugs me. I don't think there are that many stupid people out there. They are just looking for an excuse to sue and get money.

I am doing a debate in a college class this week and the claim of our debate is "Parents who feed their kids fast food as the primary meal of the day for 2 or more days a week are committing child abuse and should be reported to Child Protective Services." It is the parents responsibility for their child being obese. These mentally challenged people that are suing McDonalds for their child being fat are a disgrace to our society. It is obvious that certain things are not the healthiest alternative. Suing a tobacco company for killing someone is a stretch. If you try to get a company to stop advertising falsely is different from suing them for making your kid fat. These parents need to be turned into the government for child abuse instead of trying to make money because they are lacking the mental capacity to realize McDonalds isn't meant to be eaten for every meal of every day. The California, United States, Penal code specifically lists that this is a form of Child Abuse, Neglect. "General neglect means the negligent failure of a person having the care or custody of a child to provide adequate food, clothing, shelter, medical care, or supervision where no physical injury to the child has occurred." - California Penal Code § 11165.2 Don't sue the Fast Food company! Just stop neglecting your kid!

uhm..NO!!!!! You are the one to blame! (Well not you, but these parents or any individual in the same situation.)
that's the problem with these people...always trying to blame someone else...These parents are obviously idiots! What, did they think McDonald's food was healthy?! How long has Mickyd's been around... it's nothing new! People like that irritate the **** out of me! If that's not a frivolous lawsuit, i don't know what is.... i hope the judge points and laughs in their face.

I absolutely agree with Mike about taking responsibility for your own actions. When people started sueing the tobacco companies, I told my friends it was only a matter of time before they started sueing McDonalds. Sure enough! Nobody stuck a smoke in my mouth and said start smoking, nobody stuck a twinkie in my mouth and said start gaining weight. I did it to myself and if there are consequences, I'll just have to pay the piper.

No. Fast-food restaurants should not be responsible for obesity. Parents should take care of the child's health. If the child gets obesity, the parents cannot blame the fast-food restaurants. It is their wrong to lead their children to obesity.

No they should not.

At some point people need to be responsible for thier own actions. If they find they are gaining weight then they are the ones that needs to adjust their diet. No one forces them to go to the fast food place or purchase the Double Quarter Pounder instead of a salad.

I don't think that the fast food corporation should be responsible. It is up to the parents or person what they choose to eat. If they don't want to become obesity they should choose healthier foods.
