try game stores at the local mall. look in phone book for game stores. i bought my 6 yr old son a ds last christmas and i got a great deal at EB Games (Oklahoma City, OK). i got a red limited edition ds with mario and pac pix and some other stuff cost around 200 and change.
Good luck in your search and check that phone book.

If you are looking for a DS lite youo can get it anywhere without a sweat but if you're looking for the old DS original I'd suggest ebay

there are anywhere from 10 to 20 of them at the walmarts in oklahoma

Walmart.com has them in stock. Toysrus will have them I'm sure. I'm really surprised you cant find it, they are not that new. I mean tis the season, but Surly some department store will have them! Good luck!
