probably more than meets the eye, but as long as the gift is not given back to the original gift giver and is in new condition see no harm in this.

I admit, I've done it, and I wouldn't be surprised if something I've given was passed on.
I'm pretty good at remembering who I gave stuff too, but if in doubt, sell it on ebay and buy something else.

I haven't done it, however, I see no harm as long as you don't give it to the person who gave it to you.

I HAVE BEFORE BUT I DON'T ANYMORE BECAUSE AFTER YOU TURN 18 PEOPLE STOP GIVING YOU STUFF....SO I HAVE NOTHING TO GIVE AWAY!!!
