Does yogurt really help a yeast infection?
Why and how do you apply?

The live bacteria in yogurt (acidopholus sp?) is also found in your intestines which keeps the yeast from growing out of control. If the levels of this bacteria drops too low, the yeast starts growing out of control and causes a yeast infection. That is why you often get a yeast infection after take anti-biotics. They kill the good bacteria as well as the bad.

As for dipping a tampon in yogurt and inserting it...ekkkk. Sounds bad to me. I know they used to use it in the olden days but I didn't know if they only put it on the outside of the vagina or inside. Eating yogurt can help restore the balance in your guts or you can buy acidopholus pills (pronounced: a-sid-doff-fo-luss)but make sure they are kept in the fridge where you buy them. If not, the bacteria will not be live and will do nothing.

There are lots of over the counter meds you can take which are quicker acting.

Good luck!!

Yogurt is friendly live bacteria in it.....they eat yeast as well as doing other things that help your body. Frozen yogurt kills the bacteria thus will not help.

If you get enough it is possible to cure a yeast infection that way. Anytime you are on an antibiotic to avoid a yeast infection you should eat some yogurt...it will help replenish your symptom of good bacteria and can also help you treat your infectious bacteria.

Yes it does but you eat it although some women use it frozen on a tampon. It will not cure the yeast infection usually as you need a yeast cream or pill to do that but it will help prevent future infections.
