Why is prostitution considered wrong? They provide a service that some people appreciate. Whats the problem?

I don't understand why prostitutes get treated like shyt and why it is illegal. They provide a service that a lot of people want. i wouldn't want to be a hooker myself but I think that they're probably great at what they do. They even prevent some men from raping or abusing people. Why can't we just leave them be? As long as they are not underage, of course.

To the two respondents who seem very angry about hookers: have your significant others screwed prostitutes? Is that why you're so mad? And I would think that most hookers these days insist on condoms and if they don't, most customers would insist on condoms. I bet hookers have safer sex than the average "nice girl"!!

Take a health class, this is the info on STD's.
They do not form in the vaginal penis area ALONE. You can get Herpe's on your mouth, condoms on't cover the ball sack, but yet if there is a ghonorea ouytbreak there, no matter if you wear condoms or not, you will still contrack the disease, And Hepatitis is transferred through saliva, not "sex juices"
A woman had an outbreak of herpes as she was in labor, the out come, her baby now has the disease in the WHLOE body.


And if say a prostitute got herpers on her lips, the guy she gives head too is going to get herpes, And you don't always know if they have it or not, it depends if they are going through an outbreak.



Safe sex is a good idea, but a lot harder that you believe.

I am only going to comment on your additional thoughts. I heard an interview were 2 prostitutes were asked about safe sex. One said that she was in the business for the money. Having sex without a condom meant a lot more money for her...so she did it all the time. The other one actually had aids, she was so angry at society, parents, life, etc. that she NEVER used condoms and wouldn't tell the men she was with that she had AIDS. She said it was her way of getting revenge for everything that happened to her.
So, for those out there agreeing with prostitution and saying it's great and this and that...WATCH OUT!!!
Not only are you risking your own life, but you are also risking your wife's or girlfriend's lives.

It's basically because of the religious influence on our laws and woman hating sex is sinful Christian theology and the stone age dogmatic teachings of the Bible, except in Sin City Nevada, it's legal there.

But it could be a lot worse, in Saudi Arabia the Muslim extremist madmen execute hookers and still make women cover their magical Goddess hair and bodies, lest it temp a righteous Islamic man to commit unspeakable acts of rape and torture and murder. But Muslim men just don't have any rational self control or tolerance for non Islamic ideas whatsoever. Anyway... I think if it were legal, taxed and highly regulated by the state it could be a workable thing. Street Ho's are usually on some pimp's hook and drug line and get to the point where they just don't care what it takes they just need to get the money. Because society says that it is indecent and what society says goes.
Prostitution refers to the free use of sex and that is against any church doctrines yadda yadda yadda.
Plus people as in society say that it's filthy; in other words it doesn't promote the idea of virginity before marriage.
I on the other hand do see it's good uses and have read the book by Xaviera Hollander and she gives some pretty good tips
I believe prostitution has been legalized in Nevada for years now, and just about the only state.

The major reason is that it doesn't fit in with moral control. A person is "supposed" to find sexual satisfaction in marriage, not on the streets and not for money.
However, I think the true bad point in prostitution, unfortunately, is it encourages the spread of disease. Great if the women say condoms or no deal, but there's always going to be men who are just going to the prostitute to take out their rage and issues on an "unimportant" person. They can be raped too and oral sex can transmit disease.
There's just no way to guarantee safety in random sex.

And no my man has NEVER cheated, but prostitution encourages infidelity and is degrading to women. You say that you would not want to be hooker, but why? Is it because you have self esteem, which most hookers do not. I don't imagine there are many prostitutes who like selling their body. I think that there is alot of shame with sex.
There are attitudes towards men, which basically say "you aren't a REAL man if you need to pay for it, why can't you pick up hotties without blowing $,"... etc. They project THOSE insecurities on to the women they pay to have sex with.

Other women, especially the more insecure types and those who find their lover has cheated with a paid professional, add to the poor treatment and attitudes.

Religious and repressed social views perpetuate these negative attitudes, disrespect, and awful treatment of sex workers.

To me, sex is a health issue. If two consenting adults are having disease-free intimate erotic activities... far be it from me to stick my nose into their business (unless invited to the party)!

I think probably because it spreads disease, and it seems that it draws a shadier crowd, like drug addicts etc. Also I don't think that women who become prostitutes have alot of self esteem. I mean, you're saying they are there to provide a service..what like a rented mule? I mean these are people that we're talking about. This is probably alot of the reason that alot of them are addicts, they probably don't feel real good about what they do. There seem to be alot of on the job hazards..not exactly desirable work to most.

I agree. Moral decency of society should have nothing to do with considering what it seems 70-80% of others in society do either in politics or Hollywood.
I agree as well, I would not go to a prostitute, but whomever wants to should be able to.

I agree. Then main reason it is illegal is because of the age. I dont think they want teens being a prostitot. Maybe there should put an age limit on it like they do for smoking.
