I am a licensed Nail Technician and my opinion would be the acrylics. Most people think that gels would be better because there is less filing and force with the nails but they are very unpredictable. If your hands are in water alot, they tend to melt off. Acrylics require the shine of your nail to be buffed away. Some places file too much or use the drill incorrectly leaving your natural nails very thin or full if ridges. When done right the acrylics shouldnt turn colors during the wear, but may if you smoke, tan indoors, or you have a slight mold or fungus. Acrylics are inexpensive while gels might cost a lil more. Gels tend to be lighter than acrylics, not so heavy on your nails. Hope this helps you!

I am a cosmetologist, and I think either one is fine. The main reason people have damage to their nails is because the nail tech uses the drill improperly, causing ridges. I've had the best luck with porcelain, especially if you like a french manicure. Gel nails tend to be weak, and acrylic yellows over time. Any type of artificial nail will rough up the top layer of your natural nail a bit. Ask around and find an experienced nail technician with good referrals.

well if you are worry about your real nails then gel is the way to go. they will do less harm then acyclic, because of the chemicals used, but also be aware they cost more and break easier then acyclic!!

Gel - it's supposedly not as harsh on your natural enamel and is higher in quality - that's why they're more expensive!
