I'm excited for my children, but Christmas has really become a financial burden hasn't it? It's also a scheduling nightmare. I wish it felt like it did when I was a kid, I remember the warm cuddly feeling and the anticipation of presents, so naive that my parents were probably stressed out too! Hope something hits you and you get the spirit..like maybe a nice financial windfall perhaps! Have a good one!

No way!!! I even have 8 little grandchildren, and that i'm so excited, their an prolonged time are all between 3 and eight years, so maximum are actually at school. I even have found out that my one and purely grand-daughter, is enjoying Mary contained in the college nativity, and all the lads, are singing solo's, so i would be an incredibly proud Granny when I watch that nativity play, subsequent Sunday ( a super container of tissues in hand) I even have had plenty relaxing paying for for their promises this 12 months, as they're now all sufficiently previous to savour Christmas. We often substitute between my Son's abode, and my daughter's on Christmas Morning, for the hollow of the promises, as they stay 8 miles aside, we can be up at 5am, and look ahead to the call to assert they're unsleeping, and in contact to open their promises. no one dares open something until we arrive, which provides to the thrill. We then spend a stunning day, traveling relatives contributors, or maybe slot contained in the Christmas day carol provider. CHRISTMAS IS staggering!!!

As you get older it more than excitement for Christmas that runs out. You get jaded from listening and watching the news that gets worse and worse everyday. Christmas is no longer a precious season for most adults its a money grab for the large corporations that starts earlier and earlier in the year and by the time it gets here you are so sick and tired of the hype you just wish it gone.

I think the excitement runs out for several reasons. First, many of us can afford to buy ourselves during other times of the year the things we could have only expected at Christmas when we were children. Second, our love of Christmas turns from focus on self to focus on the enjoyment of others like our children and spouses. Third, as we mature we come to enjoy the Christmas season and its significance more and more and find Christmas Day to be anti-climatic. Fourth - again due to maturity, I think, people's emotions somewhat level out, becoming less prone to extremes of positive or negative feelings.
Well, there is my take on it.

I feel that way. when I was ages 7-13 I I used to come in my parents room and jump on their bed at 4-5 in the morning saying "santa came". now I M 17 and all I want to do is sleep-in, happy about the 2 weeks off for Christmas, and see presents under the tree and in my stocking.

Yes, and it makes me sad. I used to love Christmas but I find now I run out of steam after I put the tree up. If it wasn't for the web I don't think I would even get my shopping done.
getting old sucks!

I have more fun shopping for kids. I was going to buy a Robot Toy for my boyfriend he'd seen in Maxim, but then I realized he'd play with it once, or twice and it's more practical to buy him something like clothes or a nice bottle of scotch.
I think growing up takes away from part of the holiday magic. When you stop the child in you from indulging and force yourself to be practical.
