Shouldn't the point be, why do so many people make a great big fuss over Christmas when they're so keen to put down the theory of God and Christ? I'm no bible-basher, far from it but... It's just a thought! Are all Athiest and non believeing persons so grudged to call it Christmas? Oh and another point... do they grudge opening their presents on a day where, without the theory of what they call down so much, they wouldn't have it, nor their day off of work?

Besides the most important part, celebrating the birth of Christ, all you have to do is read the front page of your newspaper, watch the evening news on CNN, listen to talk radio on the drive home tonight. Getting into the Christmas mood seems to give us an escape from all of that...we have a reason to smile, even if we know it won't last all year..to get together with friends & family...to give & get that special hug from someone who's special...as a 59 year old father & grandfather, I get such great joy watching all my kids & grandkids opening their presents...the smiles & laughs and just sitting back watching and 'drinking-in' the spirit of the day.

Unlike in years gone by, Christmas is now about the dollar. People still like to think that Christmas time is about remembering Christ, but big business has taken over. Our economic outlook primarily revolves around the time between Thanksgiving and New Year.

not just in the USA - go to europe ; the celebration of the birth and gift of Jesus ; a time that can bring out the best; if all money was gone, we would still find a way to celebrate no matter what - just like the grinch who stole christmas ; in the end , we would still have life, love and each other ; the greatest gifts of Christmas

For the same reason Boxing Day is so important to Canada.
In all seriousness, most businesses make the majority of their yearly profits between November and December.
For those not so into the almighty dollar, it is also the most spiritual of all days, regardless of your religious or secular beliefs.

at a personal level, it is because there are a lot of Christians in this country who value the true meaning; but if you are talking about U.S.A. inc. as a seperate entity, it is because tis the season for the rich to get richer while the poor get into debt!

Because we are all a bunch of of materialistic people who love receiving gifts. Nobody celebrates Christmas for it's true intention. Plus the stores make a killing. It's the American way!

It is the time that stores make the most money all year. Honestly, Christmas has become a holiday of money.
