With the engine off, rock the quad forward and back while lifting up or pushing down on the shifter. Push down - push down - push down until it won't shift any further. That's first gear. Lift up softly until it goes into neutral.

with your engine off roll slightly back and forward and use your gear shifter all the way down and click it upward once to nuetral
