The full phrase is "To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight".
They've used it for decades, well before it picked up the double meaning.
As for homosexuality within the Scouts- understand that national 'policy' is not the same thing as what local units do. Most Scout leaders I know don't care what the sexuality of their leaders is and practice an informal form of 'don't ask, don't tell'.
After all, there is NOTHING in the forms you fill out that say homosexuals (or atheists) can't join as youth or leaders*, and no place to check if you are gay or agnostic.
(*- they just have to agree with the Oath, etc. in some way.)

I really don't think at 6 most little boys know what the word straight means. They'll think a line if you asked them not thier sexual orientation. As for the moral part, morals are just being a good person and a productive member of society. I think you're reading too much into that...

an ordinary evaluate of the scout motto, oath and regulation makes it abundantly clean why the leftist see them as a company which could be destroyed by even though ability achievable. How can they permit issues like a "advantage Badge"? The very thought of "advantage" is diametrically adversarial to their collectivist creed. surely an "entitlement badge" is the only politically maximum appropriate image of success and it will little doubt be bestowed not on someone scout, yet on an entire "Scout Collective", because of the fact the be conscious "troop" would have a vaguely militaristic connotation to them. i'm advantageous they're going to hold tenting journeys, the region will little doubt be someplace deemed to have much less of an environmental bring about choose of a political one. Wall highway possibly.

Morally straight isn't a gay/straight thing if that is what you are thinking. Morally straight means that they pledge to have good morals. Not to do things that hurt other people in life for personal gain and to help outer people out whenever they can.

Just another reason I don't support scouting. "Morally Straight" is subjecting yourself to the judgment of others not to mention their whole little blather about "God"... There are much better things kids could be doing other than being taught to conform to someone else's ideas of religion and morality.......

to do what is best for others: not purposely offending someone, hurting someone, physically; thus behaving like a productive, law-abiding citizen within the larger framework of society.
i'm 100% certain this phrase has nothing to do with sexuality or sexual orientation. in fact, i believe the b/scouts are indoctrinated to be non-prejudical and accepting of all cultural, religious, and personal differences among people.

The morality here as far as sexually means they are not to have sex before marriage. So pre-marital sex would be immoral. It also means that this sex is to be used for procreation. Since this in not the case with gays regardless of if they care married or not homosexual relations are immoral.

BSA leadership is just a bunch of homophobes. That line has been around a while, so it's from a slightly older version of English and not added by their homophobic leadership though.
