when someone gives you a gift, then you give it to someone else as a gift

It works like this: You get a gift from someone that cares enough to give it to you. For whatever reason, be it the wrong color, size or for any reason that you feel that you have no practical use for the gift - you obviously don't want to hurt the original giver's feeling - you accept the gift. You don't use the item and when the occasion presents itself, you re-wrap the gift that you never appreciated and pass it on to someone else. If the receiver has no use for it, he/she keeps it around for a while and then passes it on. Some gifts can eventually come around and come back to haunt you so do be sure not to give it back to the original giver.

Wrapping up a gift someone gave you and then you giving it to someone else..Some people do that if they did not like the gift, or if they can use the gift or simply don't have the money to buy any thing else..It is a good way to go as long as you don't get caught by the person who gave it to you!!..lol...

Giving someone a present an item you originally received as a present but do not want or need--which is OK according to the etiquette columnist so long as it is new and was not a hand-made item the original giver made especially for you (i.e. knit wool mittens)
