There is this table from leap frog that it stands on 4 legs and it has a whole bunch of sounds and lights. It's really cool. My son has one and he loves it. The legs are blue and there's like a trombone and a piano on the top. It playes the ABS's and other cool things. Well, look at Toys R us for that.

Books. My son is 16 months old, and he loves the books with different textures to touch. Plus, it's a gift that will have parents interacting with their kids.

Anything that will help her develop motor skills, such as a Fisher Price toy with moving parts and noisy rattles, but make sure it's safe for her age, as she will tend to taste everything she gets her hands on.

My son recieved a Talk With Me Elmo (he is 19 months old) and loves that toy. You can program it to say the childs favorite things and sing songs and it will even say the childs name.
