All this thing about smarter boys is a myth...it is because it the medieval ages and before the man were the only who can go study science, mathematics, literature or arts...Nowadays everywhere it is accepted that the girls are better in school but this is again not because they are "smarter" but because they can keep on studying harder and are more digillant than the boys...

No.

Many people in the past (and, unfortunately, in the present) have made the illogical assumption that females are less intelligent than males. There have even been many in the past to cite phrenological and biological evidence to argue their case. However, such "evidence" never holds up--either the researcher's methodology is faulty or the research is biased against females. After all, even scientific research is stained by the biases of the researcher.

Physiologically, there are very few differences between males and females. After all, it's not like one sex is a different species (i.e. they are not truly "opposites").

EDIT: The *only* significant differences between females and males are societal. Females have found it extraordinarily difficult to succeed in Western-minded societies like in the U.S. After all, they weren't even considered important enough to be allowed to vote until just recently. This type of society favors males while hindering females.

History and the laws were written by males. Some arguments (like the shallow one posed by Ex-Raver) cite the lack of historical evidence of great women thinkers/inventors/etc. However, why would a male historian include such women if he believes they should be inferior to males? Plus, how would such a female become known for her brilliance in the first place? What happened to the thousands of (predominantly) female victims that were hunted in Europe and North America for being "non-womanly" and "witches?" The answer, of course, is that they were persecuted and they died or were jailed.

Many people often overlook the contributions of women like Rosalind Franklin. Without her research and pictures, the structure of DNA may not have been mapped (after all, Watson and Crick sure weren't going to do it).

What about the brilliant Maria Mitchell, one of the leading astronomers of the 19th century? The only reason she was taken seriously as a scientist is because she discovered a comet.

What about botanist Almira Lincoln, who had to publish under the name "A. Lincoln" just to be taken seriously by male scientists? She was taken seriously because scientists thought that "A. Lincoln" was male.

The list goes on, but, for a while at least, these great women were lost in the "annals of history." We are just now hearing about such women because only now are people writing about them. It is folly to confuse lack of evidence for evidence lacking--just because a person has not heard or seen evidence of someone or something doesn't mean they or it does not exist.

Some men are smarter than women and some women are smarter than men.

um...no. not at all. Intelligence is something that is not gender specific, though it has been shown that women generally have a higher IQ than men. That just means that in general women have a higher capacity for learning, not that theyre smarter.

Faster maybe. Stronger maybe. More self-sufficient maybe (stupid pickle jars ) but smarter, that is something hard to prove. But logically, in my head anyways, men & women are smart in their own ways.
