He'll like parts, Pirates of Caribbean, especially Haunted Mansion, a goth would fit right in. He can also look at girls, if he's into that.

A lot depends on his personal interests. The Disney water parks are a lot of fun if he enjoys water--big slides that offer thrills, snorkel ponds to see sea creatures and wave pools. Disney has several water parks. Also, Epcot Center might offer some good attractions. About half the park is devoted to science and technology things and about half is world/travel stuff. It's all very well done--not like visiting a museum. This is hands on experiments, rides, etc.
I doubt there is much at the Magic Kingdom that will interest him.
Is he the only child you are traveling with or are there others? If it's just him you might think of another destination. Disney is wonderful but teenagers sometimes have a hard time letting themselves be awed by how well it's done. The best vacation I ever took with my teenagers (5 of them...) was a Carnival Cruise. I felt comfortable letting them wander the ship at will because I knew they couldn't get lost, there was 24 hour food and drink available (included in the price), and there were stage shows, a disco, games etc. We did a 5 day cruise which included 2 days in port in Mexico and they all loved it. Disney does cruises also if you are really looking for the Disney experience, but I've not tried their cruise so can't comment specifically.

It depends on which park you are at, but at all of them, there are rides that are great for a teenager. MGM has the Tower of Terror and the Rockin' Rollercoaster, and and awesome stunt show.... EPCOT has Test Track and Mission Space, Animal Kingdom has Everest and the River Rapids, and Magic Kingdom has all the mountains: Space, Thunder, and Splash.

Honestly, he may be secretly excited about going and not willing to admit it. If nothing else, tell him that you have had tons of advice about all the hot girls there. Maybe if you agree to let him wander the parks solo, meeting up with you occasionally, he might be more agreeable.

If you want to go, then go. Don't let him spoil it for you. It is so much fun, and whether he thinks he'll have fun or not... he will.

Also! I'm not sure this is true at Disneyworld as it is Disneyland BUT during the holidays the Haunted Mansion turns into the Nightmare Before Christmas. Its awesome.

Hit on the disney princesses. Other than that, he'd probably find it extremely boring. I was dragged to disneyworld when I was 16 and hated it. Orlando outside DisneyWorld is pretty cool though. Universal Studios might be more his speed.

There are lots of thrill rides such as Aerosmith Rock and Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Star Tours, and a fantastic Arcade with really advanced video games. Then there are the WATERPARKS with waterslides etc., a Wide World Of Sports park, and in Disney Quest in downtown disney, there is a 5 story video arcade where you can build your CG rollercoaster that has a booth you can enter after you are done and you can......ride your own rollercoaster! How is that for fun? I hope he enjoys himself.

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, man.

I just came back from "DW" and I'm 17.

Honestly I got into everything, I really felt like a little kid when I was there because everyone is just so happy...

Once my parents talked me into going I ran for that ride, it scared the crap out of me the first like, I don't know,
40 - something times!!!

I couldn't believe it but I really got a kick out of Disney World once I got there and I'm really not into that kind of thing...

Honestly, the easiest way to convince him to go would to bring a friend. At 17, going to Disney with parents isn't really the greatest thing to do. (Not saying you're not great parents, but I'm 23, and I know what it's like to be 17.)

Go to MGM Studio's. They've got some scary attractions, Tower of Terror, and Rock n' Roller Coaster.

At EPCOT, they've got Test Track, which is all about development and testing of new cars.

I found that once you spend some time at Disney, you get caught up in the whole thing, and get in to the spirit of it.

There are also plenty of fit girls to ogle.
