The Democrats won 51 of 100 senate seats thus obtaining majority control. I don't know if they wanted Democrats as much as they did not want Republicans. Here is a good chance for me to plug my party, visit http://www.lp.org.

Given the dimensions of the majorities, and which seats are up in the Senate, it is not going the the Republicans will lose their majorities this election. remember maximum abode seats are districted to stay in the arms of the social gathering it relatively is at present conserving them.) even nonetheless, it particularly is quite in all probability that the majorities would be critically trimmed, esp. in the Senate, and that it particularly is going to be extra good for the Bush and Rep. management time table to be enacted sooner or later.

Prior to the election, the Washington Times said it best, "The Republicans will lose, but one thing's for sure, the Democrats do not deserve to win."

When Dem Nancy Pelosi with a 28% approval rating takes over the House as Speaker from Speaker Dennis Hastert with a 28% approval rating, it's clear people didn't vote for the better party or better candidate they simply voted for change.

Because people relate republican to Bush, and they`ve had enough of that s-it. so in conclusion Bush lost the senate for the republicans..... The page e-mail thing by ANOTHER republican didn`t help either, that was just enough to push people over the edge and go DEMO... They might not have even wanted democrates in there but all they new they knew they sure as hell didn`t want republicans.

They lost power in the House and Senate because they have been in power for a long time and the american people were tired of the current power.

The same thing happened back in the 90's when the Dems lost control.

Politicians are like diapers. They should be changed frequently and for the same reason. (my apologies to Robin Williams)

People still haven't seen the crippling pain and debt the country will be in within the next several years due to the recent republican influence in our government. So no, they didn't vote democrat for the RIGHT reasons. They only voted for them because they were sick of Bush's stubbornness and the decaying Iraqi war.

I do NOT believe for a moment that the public really wants Dems in power, why would they?. No, The Republicans in both houses, time and again throughout the years in power have repeatedly failed to stand up for what they were elected to do and the public is tired of it. Too many RINO's on every issue. It was a vote against these spineless ones, NOT a vote for dems.

Why, because a change was so necessary, the repubs don't have a clue on how to fix the war, and Yes, it is obvious to me that more than just dems wanted dems to win!! Real good Thumpin!!

It wasn't so much a vote for Democrats as a vote against Republicans, who screwed up badly.

People want conservatives. The Republicans abandoned their conservative base and became "Democrate lite" over the past ten years.
Many Democrats who ousted Republicans, did it by campaigning to the right of the incumbents.
