Hi. I'm going to High School next year too. LOL I'm going to know all the people at mine, but if I was in your situation I would probably just be myself and if I see someone who looks or acts nice I would maybe sit by them at lunch and just introduce myself.

First off, don't just go up to someone in the hallway randomly. Chances are, they won't be in any of your classes and you'll never talk to them again. Always start by going to people in your classes, mostly people who sit near you. Second, a good intro to a conversation is "Hi, my name's______, what's yours?" Then you could say something like "I just moved here from ______." That will usually get the conversation moving in a good direction. Usually, it will lead to a lot of questions about yourself and where you're from. The, after you've established that sort of "base" so-to-speak, you can work on talking about interests and other such things. Finally, aslways have a confident air, but not to the point where you seem cocky. Don't look at your feet when you walk through the halls and always make and keep eye conatct when you talk to people. Don't fiddle with things when talking to people, it hepls you gain respect beacuse people know that you're listening. Have fun with it. Don't try to be someone you're not 'cause once you get to know someone and then you show them the real you after you've shown them a fake you, they won't trust you. Just be you. Also, make sure you stay in touch with your friends back at home. Even if you don't make new firends right away, you can at least know that you have a support system to back you up. Good luck at your new school!

I would smile and say hello, be open to conversations. If you notice someone is in many of your classes, comment on it. Maybe ask what they have for the rest of the day for classes and if you can walk with them. Ask people where classes are.

Join a club that interests you or try out for a sport if you like to do that. That is probably the easiest way to gain friends. If you take the bus, try to strike a conversation with someone that seems friendly.

After you get a little friendly with someone at school, maybe you can ask what kids around here do on the weekends. Maybe they will give you an invite.

Don't worry, you will make friends!

Hey Good Question ... I would have to say to make friends in southern CA is gonna be like nothing else you have had to do.. but just be yourself i wouldnt say let them come to you just cause you will be waiting your whole life for a friend in CA.. but you make the 1st step .. just let people know your new in town but your cool as hell to hang out with.. i mean i dont know how old you are and the things you like to do but just let them know what it is and what your all about!! i would have to also say to get a job cause you will always meet firends at work!! good luck and you"ll do fine!!

Actually, I would suggest watching and observing for a while....you may think that you might want to be friends with a certain group but after a while you may find out they might not be the best group to associate with.

Try seeing who is in most of your classes, start out with casual conversations, just let the dialog flow naturally...be yourself. Don't try to be the funny guy, the smart guy, the bad guy or whatever.... When you see people regularly, you will begin to talk more and after a couple of weeks, you'll just be able to naturally suggest hanging out after school or whatever.... Don't be so worried.... You'll make friends....

Try to make friends the same way you did in the beginning. If the same approach work, go from there. If not you'll have to discover a different one that works and hope it all work out well for you. Good luck.
