May I recommend you get medised for your little boys cold symptoms. It is paracetamol and an antihistamine. The antihistamine will dry up a runny nose and it is known for causing drowsiness so he will get a good nights sleep too. The cough is probably being cause by catarrh running into his throat as he lies down. If you raise the end of his cot slightly this will also help with this problem, yellow pages under the legs at the head of the cot will do the trick (not extra pillows to raise his head) You can take medised with nurofen it is perfectly safe to mix the two. Usually cough medicines are recommended from 1 year. If you want to give him a dose of tixylix I would recommend 2.5ml Also tixylix does not contain paracetamol. If you really want to you can give nurofen as well.

so either... nurofen and medised
or nurofen and tixylix

If in any doubt call in to your local pharmacy in the morning and they will give you all the advice you need. Hope your little one is feeling better soon

Well, of course there is no true remedy. As all the others say, get lots of rest, drink lots of good fluids. No soda's, maybe orange juice and water. Get lots of rest. You don't really have to sleep that much, but it's kinda helpful. Keep yourself warm, and wear socks. Don't do too many things that will tire you out. Eat chicken soup. Take NyQuil if you want to. Its disgusting but helps a WHOLE lot. Also, if you get stopped up in the nose, you might want to mix honey, vinegar, and water, and then put in the microwave for about 45 seconds. If you smell/sniff it for a minute, your nose will feel better.

Yes you can give nurofen as it is a ibrofen but for 11 months i think this is too much, you should be giving him/her 2.5ml instead. don't give calpol though as this has paracetomel in and the cough medicine also has paracetomol so you'll be giving double dose.

This i know as i've asked my doctor before. Try tixylix night time cough medicine as this always works for my little one.

I know right now that you are probably tired, but PLEASE call a pharmacist (any pharmacy) in your area to get advice about this. That is their job. And it won't cost you a cent. The medicines do not have to be prescriptions for them to advise you on this. What if someone (from yahoo!answers) told you to go ahead and your child ended up in the hospital or dead? NEVER take a chance with children. Good luck.

I have been doing this for the past few days with my daughter.

It's fine...I have been doing it under the advice of a nurse who said this is the right combination to ease the suffering of your little one. Just remember to stick to the right dosage and see doctor if it carries on for more than a week :)

EDIT: Sorry, I just read your dosages that you plan on giving- drop them both down to 2.5 mls!
