Okay, when I was pregnant with my son I didn't notice this, but I am about 8 1/2 weeks pregnant now and I am thirsty all the time. I drink water, lemonade, orange juice, gatorade, and 7-up all day long, but it's like I can't get enough. I have been checked for diabetes and that wasn't it....anyone else expierencing this?

The reason I drink other things other than water is b/c water sits so heavy on my stomach it makes my nausea worse. The other fluids seem to lessen the nausea feeling. I try to alternate between water and a juice or 7 up through out the day

I experienced that when I was pregnant. The doctor's explained to me that my body was taking over. Your body knows what you need and if you listen to it, it'll be for your own good. You body knows you need more fluids. First of all, your blood supply goes way up which means you'll automatically need more fluids. Plus, you are carrying a baby so you'll need more nutrients anyway. Just listen to your body if it's not diabetes. I think that this helped me to gain less weight (26 pounds) and it kept me in good health. Besides, keeping water and juices in your system is nothing but GOOD for you! :)

You need more WATER....not soda or juice....just water! I bet if you drink the recommended 10-12 glasses of water a day (for pregnancy), you will be fine. Every time I have a busy day and don't drink enough or have juice with breakfast and then pop with lunch, I feel like my mouth is a desert! Good Luck!

yea, it happens when your pregnant.

a helpful hint - water is the best when your thirsty. even better than gatorade, because when liquid enters your body, if it has flavor, your body says "oh this has flavor, must be a food" so it sends it to your stomach, where it goes through the whole digestive system. if you just drink water, then it will immediately start re-hydrating you. if you add a little bit of lemon juice, your body uses the water better.

by the way, pop and any other carbonated drinks dehydrate you and zap calcium from your body. stay away from those!!

I'm 6 1/2 months pregnant and i feel like i have been thirsty the entire time. it doesn't mean you are diabetic. I'm not and wasn't with my last pregnancy either. just keep drinking fluids it your body telling you what it needs, unfortunately it also means several trips to the bathroom. good luck!!

well after going to or if you're like me living in the bathroom everyday you would be pretty thirsty. even though you drink the juices and gatorade and stuff you have to drink more water then anything. my doc says you can even have favored water, just as long as you're drinking it. okay? okay. i'm like you too...but then again i've always been thirsty. i rather drink then eat most of the time.

love jen.

Continue to present this symptom to your health care provider at your check ups, the diabetes may just not have shown up yet.
