In Florida, where I graduated from, it was 4 english courses, 3 math courses, 2 history courses, a psychoanalytic / socioeconomic course, 3 earth science courses, 2 foriegn languages, 4 years of physical education, and you had to play a sport.
Ask anyone affiliated with your school for the "core cirriculum for graduation."

It'll vary from school to school.
Your counselor will have a brochure outlining which courses are absolutely necessary, which courses have acceptable substitutes (and what the substitutes are).
You need to take all the courses your high school requires for graduation, sufficient coursework to cover all other high school graduation requirements, and... get this... all the courses required by the colleges of your choice, for admission. Get the college catalogs now, don't wait! You're going to be busy busy busy. I had to go to summerschool for two summers to fit it all in.

Go onto a search engine and enter "[your state] Department of Education."
From there, browse the site and you should be able to locate "Graduation Requirements" or something similar (ex. core curriculum).
If you want to be more precise, check with your local school board. They should be able to offer you many information.
