Trying to install a printer to my laptop but don't know very much - especially all the names of bits and pieces, All went well until I had to enter which port I was connecting the printer to - a great long list to choose from which meant nothing to me. It's a very common one, I have 2 at the back of the laptop, one above the other and I use the multiple thingy plugged into one, to add on different things - mouse, keyboard, etc. the other one is for the modem. What are the 2 ports called??? Thanks

Those are called USB, you plugged the printer into a USB hub which just creates more USB ports to plug stuff into. You want to select USB.

sounds like a USB port..there's a flat rectangular piece of plastic inside the metal outer part with 4 metal connectors pointing out?

Think you are right...USB

(Universal Serial Bus)

Make sure you install the software for the printer BEFORE you connect the printer. else you may have problems.

If you have already done this, then you need to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them first.
