Don't fancy the cost of the engineer and there are serious access issues to my house, so its not really convenient

ring sky, if your a subscriber it shouldn't cost you anything.
don't even consider trying it yourself, that invalidates your contract with sky.
it comes under mis-use of equipment.

mind did that too last year. had to get my other half to go up the ladder, and talk to me via our mobile phones, as he gently moved the dish, and i watched what was happening on the TV screen. never could get it 100%, it has to be just right....... after a few months we called sky, who came and did tests to see which direction was correct ( he used some kind of hand held computer device). only problem is that they sting u for at least 60 quid for 2 minutes work !!!

Climb on to the Roof and realign it your self or call an Aeriel fitter to do the Job.

It has to be exact so i would suggest calling out an engineer.

either borrow a handheld receiver from a shop that will give you direction and strength of signal, or use a compass and some good luck!
