It would have to be a stick-shift, or I wouldn't drive said truck. Besides, it is more like 16/7...this Weasel is a sleeper.

Actually, this is NOT discrimination because being able to hear is a relevant part of being a truck driver. IF another truck blows its horn at him to get out of the way, or if a warning goes out across the CB/radio system about a bad winter storm or a bad traffic accident ahead, how would your friend hear it and be able to react? DOT rules require that all truck drivers be able to hear and speak because if they couldn't, the roads wouldn't be as safe. Not everyone knows (or should be required to know) sign language, so if your friend was in trouble and needed to tell someone (police, emergency personnel, etc) information, how would he do that? By writing it down?? That's not safe. Your friend should have read the DOT regulatory handbook provided by the truck driving school he applied for. If they didn't give him one, he would realize when he got to school to take the DOT physical that he wouldn't pass. Sorry, but those are the rules and I think they are good ones because they keep the roads safer!
