Well! If I remember rightly, It was about 1947, I played the part of The Prince in Sleeping Beauty and my mum and dad, between them, made me an absolutely fantastic costume for the part, which turned out to be a great success. I can't believe that I can remember that, after all these years.

I was one of the 4 calling birds from "The 12 Days of Christmas" one year, and an elf another year. Both bring back wonderful memories from my youth and a time when Christmas, even at school, also still celebrated Christ!

I was 'the invited guest' in Sleeping beautiful - The evil witch character who put sleeping beauty to sleep.
I was about 10, and I got to dress up in green foundation, with a fake nose, a huge black silky gown and elbow length black gloves! I had a wonderful time, I did enjoy the role, as it suited me - always the outsider.

Oh, we didn't do the usual Nativity Play - it was a secular school.
However, at my first primary school, I played a christmas tree - but I had to stand at the back as I forgot my brown tights.

I was always the narrator because I had a good speaking voice and could be heard at the back without a microphone (not that they were around in schools 20 years ago). I would then double as a sheep or shepherd.

i have done it all.... I have been numerous Shepard's, once played Joseph, I have been the Inn keeper, I have been the narrator, I was also the 'Candy man' (don't know why) I was a singer, and a dancer, and in high school I used to be a prop and set builder and twice did 'Front of house' - Strange never really thought about it before, but I hate acting and was never really interested in it.

Christmas play? Are you kidding? Public schools don't have 'christmas' plays. They might have a holiday play, but never a christmas play. To answer your question, we didn't have Christmas plays, but we did have plays, in which one I played a gym teacher.

I was always picked to be the narrator, so I sat on one side of the stage throughout the play and had a big book that I read from.
