You can be sued for pretty much anything, but I highly doubt that you'd lose if the person was indeed fat.

In torts, there is something called the words only doctrine- generally, you can't be sued for offensive utterances. Though this doctrine is not absolute, it would apply here. An example of when it might not apply, if you're wondering, is if, say, I called someone's mom and told her that her daughter had been killed in a car accident. If the mom suffered severe mental anguish, some states recognize the tort, intentional infliction of emotional distress. But, again, calling someone fat, is very unlikely to be IIED.

yes you can get sued. BUT the thing about being sued is that ANYONE can sue ANYONE or ANYTHING for ANYTHING.....then it just comes down to the fact and probability if they'll win or not....and even IF they did win, that doesn't guarantee that any consequence will be enforced.

Depends on who you said it to and in what context. If you said it at work to a customer or to a co-worker you might be sued for discrimination. In your everyday life, you can say whatever you want.

It isn't against the law - but you can be sued for anything.
Other consequences are:
You might get your butt kicked.
If you said it at work to a customer or even a co-worker you could get fired.
You could lose friends.
Why would you want to be so disrespectful anyway?

No. No lawsuit would never hold water. Whoever said they'd do that to you is completely wrong.
In order for someone to recieve monetary remedies, they must have been injured. That's called a tort or a civil wrong.

Anything is possible, but that is kind a frivolous law suit and wouldn't go very far.
Perhaps to avoid this kind of trouble one should keep their mouth shut......
