What I wanted my guy to wear to the prom........is gonna sound a little stupid...........but I wanted him to wear a red suit, with a black hat and black shoes...........the pimp suit, is what everyone called it, but it's the suits guys used to wear in the 50's. But don't go for the big baggy pants. Get pants that are a little closer to your fit, maybe just a little bit bigger. If you're going with a date, get a matching color, black, or white. Black goes with light colors, White goes with dark colors.
Good luck, and have fun!! Don't do anything stupid like most kids do on prom nite!!!

For prom a tuxedo is standard.
If you want to do something a little different, make one out of duck tape duct tape. It's probably short notice if it's tonight and wouldn't be appropriate if it weren't a high school prom.

Go to a tux rental shop that other school guys are going to and find out what the shop is renting to everyone else. Then rent the same thing.

A tux is usually expected. But if the dress code isn't that strict, then a suit with dress shoes, a nice tie, and a clean(!) dress shirt would be fine.

Not a guy but look at some of the Hollywood awards shows and find someone whose style you like and copy it as best you can.

All girls love a boy with good looks. Wear something cute but not too fancy.You want her to think your fun but not too crazy. Any cute suite with accessories would look fantastic.

Wear whatever you're comfortable in!
And if you're going with someone, check in with them to see what they are wearing, or even to ask for opinions.

wear a tux. my friend went to a dance and he wore a white shirt with black pants and coat.
