Is there anything I can do to prevent him from getting sick from me or is it inevitable?

Wash you habds with an antibacterial soap, ALOT. Breate away from his face, dont kiss him on the face, and do your best not to cough or sneexe around him. I was REALLY sick when my twins were two months old and breastfeeding but they made it out clear.
Plus, if you ARE breastfeeding, he is getting the antibodies your body is making to fight the cold, wich should also help him resist catching it.

Well for one you may not want to breast feed, this could pass the cold over. When you were pregnant you took vitamins right? When your baby was born their immune system got a major boost by taking your antibodies and minerals. This may help protect him some what. If you want to be 99% sure that he does not get sick from you being near him and holding him, wash your hands well and wear a doctor's/ dentist mask. That keeps you bug from escaping from your mouth. Wait for three days to pass after doing this, if you already exposed him to the cold then he will begin to show symtoms.

moonstars answer is completely wrong. Breastfeeding is one of the best protections against contracting illnesses. Brestfeeding gives your baby an amazingly powerful immune system that can protect a baby from almost everything.

If you are breastfeeding, then he is getting antibodies to whatever you have through your milk.
Keep in mind that he was exposed to it before you ever had symptoms.
Make sure to wash your hands a lot and try not to kiss all over his hands and face right now.

Everything you touch lysol, and every time you sneeze cough or blow your nose wash your hands or use hand sanitizer. I had a cold about a week ago and I did this and my son never got sick.
