It depends on how you scar. Some people who wrote in don't have one, but I do. I had a c-section June 2005 and still have a visible scar. It's not raised, just discolored. However, it is low and not visible if you are wearing a bathing suit or low cut jeans. In general, it's better to try and stay away from c-sections if you can help it. Women who have them have more trouble with scar tissue(which can cause lost of problems)down the road and it's just an easier, cleaner healing process. Good luck!

I had an "emergency" c-section with my first son. They were able to do a horizontal, or bikini cut. The original cut was no more than four inches and now, 21 months later is about two and a half inches. I live in L.A. and wear itty bitty bikinis- you'd never know I had a c-section. The scar is permanent, but shrinks and fades. I am now less than 6 weeks away from having my second son. I am scheduled for a c-section because my pelvis is too small (ischial spines are too close) to deliver a baby. Most doctors actually prefer to do repeat c-section, there are risks for uterine tears during a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) although, there are risks for c-sections too (it's actually a major abdominal surgery) My doctor said that he will actually be removing the first scar during the c-section and I'll have a whole new one that'll heal fade and shrink. I'm hoping it'll heal a little nicer, my first did what is called keliod (sp?) where the skin raises a bit, but it doesn't bother me. At the end, it's all about a healthy baby. Hope that helps

My scar is about 6" long and is actually below the hairline, so as the hair grew back it covered it up. I had a c-section in June and my scar is still pretty vivid in color. I had kidney surgery about 8 years ago and my scar from that has almost faded away. I actually wear mine as a badge of honor, and my mom and my aunts and I all traded glimpses of each other's scars. It was pretty wild to see how much things have changed over the years. To be honest, I wasn't so much concerned about the scar as I was with having a healthy baby. :)

Depends on where they cut you- my scar isn't too big, and it's called a bikini cut, that way I can wear a bikini and you wont' be able to see it. Sometimes they cut horizontally, sometimes vertically... guess it all depends on the situation, and maybe even how many you've had. I think they can cut the same place a couple of times-not sure how many exactly, but after they cut and it heals, the scar tissue becomes really hard, so it's tougher to cut through after being cut a few times.

The scar depends on the person. I had a c-section almost 15 years ago and I have a pretty big scar but my sister in law had one and her scar is very thin so it depends on how your skin heals. It is also a little different for African American women because some of us develop keloids. This I why my scar is different from my sister in law.

I've had three C-sections and all I have is a small scar really low, almost down into the hairline. They just reopened the same scar line for the second and third.

depends on how talented your doctor is, most only leave a small scar which can look pretty scary for the first year, but definitly fades as time passes. By the time your wriggly jiggly tummy goes down enough ot Want to wear a bikini agian you'll be ok to do so :) :)

if you have any problems with the pregnancy and need and emergency c-section then the scar is a doosy. i had ot have one and for that kind they go up an down instead of across. it's from my belly button to my pubic hair. but it's fading really fast adn i'm not doing anything special to help it along. i got it done august 31 and it looks way better already, still really noticeable though.

The scar is about 6 -7 inches long (horizontal) across the top of your pubic hair. About the size of a pen mark wide.
