Well first let me express my sympathy for you during this emotional time in you life.
You have to admit this sounds like the making of a sitcom. When did your husband come out of the closet...as a redneck I mean. If he was one when you married then you shouldn't be surprised by anything that come out of his mouth (unless he starts spouting mathematical formulas, discussing the economic effects of global warming and such)
His disappointment with his son being gay is understandable. He feels like he failed somewhere, less a man if his son is "less" a man. I think it's time to run on down to that little white church on the corner and ask the preacher for some help.
My best advice is this. You married your husband...not your son. We cant live our lives around our children. Stand strong with our spouses and pray for our children.

First of all, there is a little "redneck" in everyone, like it or not thats the truth. As for your gay son, that would be hard, but I don't agree with what everyone else is saying. You DON'T need to support him in that. That's why the world is going to hell because nobody thinks anything is wrong anymore. Let him know how disappointed you are with him. Yes he is still your little boy but you don't have to agree with his stupidity. Find a church and talk with the Pastor about this. Getting Jesus in your life in the only way to make it through something like this. As for your husband being a "redneck", you knew that before you married him. I know he really isn't a "redneck" because if he was he would have already solved one of your problems, he would have already killed your son, and since he hasn't killed him yet, try taking him to church with you. If you're lucky you might even get your son to go with you too, and maybe he will get saved also and since you can't be truly saved and be "gay" your problems will be over.

Honestly, You should wonder how your son has to cope his self. In todays society its not that easy coming out to people especially your parents and saying hey Im gay. All you can do is support your son. He may have a different sexual preference, but at the same time he's still that little boy you once knew. If you want to be with your redneck husband but there are issues, then you both need to sit down and work things out otherwise if nothing will work then its time to throw in the towel. Again don't forget to support your son. Its not a choice to be gay. You should research on-line about it. Its been proven that it has to do with genetics....

First of all you need to smack the living you know what out of your son for being gay. Then you and your redneck husband need to talk about your differences.

I'm sorry your husband is a redneck, that must be rough and hard to cope with.

You can just be supportive of your son regardless of how your husband feels. Rednecks can't be changed, so just ignore his comments and be there for your son.

I would call the Jerry Springer show and make some money off of the experience.

Sometimes we just need to accept the things that we cannot change. When I really need help accepting something that is out of my hands, I turn to prayer and faith. I wish you the best.

Children need and deserve unconditional love & support from their parents. If your husband can't provide this, please encourage him to get counselling.
