and just to tell you jocks.....band is just as hard as football! you practice all year round unlike football were you just have a season!
you have to carry a 50 pound instrument, play and move at the same time they make really cool designs with the people while marching to spell out something or make a heart or a star or a wave or some thing incredibly difficult! they need to have strait body while marching you need to march right you need the right posture and memerize a 10 min. show and practice 13 hours a day for a whole year! its a lot harder than you jocks think!and geuss what PEOPLE PAY TO WATCH MARCHING BANDS it can go up to $47 per person so please dont say "its not pysical and that people dont pay to watch it" because they do!

I love football. It is my favorite sport. I dont really have a reason but I do like it. I know what you mean about the band nerd thing. I was in band throughout middle school, high school, and college. I think that most jocks that say dumb things dont realize how much time and effort it takes to put on a great halftime show or concert. I know when I was in high school, band was 1st period and school started @ 8:00. The band started @ 7:30, sometimes 7:00 in the morning to practice our show. Then on Wednesday afternoon we practiced marching our show from 3:15, when school got out, until 5:30. You have to be coordinated to march a show. You have to memorize all your music, Play your instrument, March perfectly and hit your spot all at the same time. That is harder than it sounds. If you go to the wrong spot the desgin looks wrong or you run into other people. You have to be aware of what you are doing at all times. Just like football players have to memorize all of their plays, know their position, hit there spots, and execute plays, so does the band. Most of the true athletes understand, or at least respect, the band and the hard work they put in to their shows. Our football team complained if the band didnt get to go to all of their games because we used our music to motivate them. They even put in requests of their favortie songs to play during the game. Contact sports aren't everything, I played soccer in high school too. Its not a big deal. It doesnt make you any better. There is nothing wrong with football or band. Just remember if there wasnt a band at your football games, there would be no fight song after scoring, or pep music to get the crowd going, or nothing to do at half time.

how isn't football wondeful?
It's not that the bands aren't sweet, they are, but the game is much more exciting. Football carries tradition, rivals, emotions, blood, broken bones, pain, heartbreaks, great victorys, screaming and crying. Some of the best athletes ever are football players. It has been around for a very long time. It's a fun to watch with friends and family. It's exciting to see someone pick off the other team, or watch two of the schools best players ever make a last minute touchdown pass! It's a fun thing to watch, and to take place it. It's something for the whole family.
Now don't get me wrong, i love the bands, the cheers, the fight songs, the halftime shows, but most people watch the game on TV, and don't get to see how much the band does. If the band wasn't there the game wouldn't be as exciting, but if the team wasn't there, it'd be really boring.

Football is a sport about courage, determination, and statistics. Plus its usually a family tradition. On the Super Bowl alone 39 million households tune in every year. And yes people love to watch band to. Its real huge in my city. (Bentonville, Arkansas) Second to football of course. hehehe. But yes band can be difficult and require a lot of memorization but so does football. On my teams defense alone we have at lest 40 different plays to remember. And by the way football is year round here. We have to lift weights and run sprints everyday except on Sundays and Holidays. But I don't think football should be compared to band. They're two totally different subjects.

"and just to tell you jocks.....band is just as hard as football"
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. YOU SAY THAT UNTIL YOU HAVE TO PUT THE TWINKIES DOWN AND TAKE A FOREARM TO THE THROAT. face the facts, there are no winners in band you're all losers. and comments like those are why band kids get beat up in highs cool for being oblivious to the fact that no one likes band, no one ever will.
"show and practice 13 hours a day for a whole year!"
okay and that's who's fault? you're lieing because that is illegal its a national law saying a team can only practice 2 1/2 hours a day 5 days a week so quit being a typical dramatic band kid.
"and don't say that we don't spill blood because this summer while marching people got cuts from there instruments to the point were they needed 3 stitches"
oh my god!!!!!!! not 3 stitches!! i fell off my bike and needed more stitches try breaking a bone or tearing a ligament
football is the second biggest industry in the country behind COMPUTERS not band instruments. i would also like to say i prey for the people that pay to go watch high school marching bands. go cry about your hate for jocks on a band forum with others who hate life.

Because there is nothing else like it. A sport that relies so much on teamwork and strategy. Sure they can be stars but if everybody is not on the same page it could be a disaster. Its just such a thrilling sport. There is nothing like seeing a back break a huge run or seeing a QB scramble and throw a perfect throw. Its a blood pumping sport. Its the passion of it all. People say is an neanderthal sport. But its the most emotional sport and the most complex sport. Its weird but you can feel their passion even if you are just watching it on your TV. No other sport makes me yell and cheer and jump around like a child. Its wonderful just because its football. I LOVE FOOTBALL!

Football is enjoyable on a lot of levels:
- It is arguably the most strategic of all team sports;
- It has roles for people from a wide range of body types and talents;
- It has built-in bathroom breaks; ;)
- It's one sport where one uber-stud can't win the game by themselves: No Michael Jordan taking the ball to the hoop without a pass, or Mario Lemieux getting the puck every time they're in the opponent's end. Teamwork is more vital in football than in most other team sports.
That said, I like band, too. ;) (I marched with the Toledo Glassmen in Drum Corps International.)

I am an ex-athlete that never did band. However, I can say that teams have a closeness from being in battle so many times. Just like soldiers from the wars that come home. They feel close to their squadron for life.
I can assume that band members have this closeness to some degree. But, spilling blood in the same mud with other players brings a certain closeness that non-team members don't realize.
Hope this helps...

Everything is better during football season, I love wearing any steeler gear down the street and random people will start talking to me about the team. It is not the same when I wear some pirates stuff. There is nothing better than football season.

FOOTBALL IS AMAZING. I LOVE FOOTBALL.
i'm not angry at you-- but be careful of what you say to other americans about OUR sport. that and thankgiving are the only things we can really call our own.
Football is naturally the pride of America. America is awesome, therefore football is awesome.
and someone tell the Broncos to shape up their act before they kick themselves out of the playoffs for goodness sakes!
