Word the invite as a children's sleep over to allow the parents to celebrate care free in their own way, without having to worry about their kids. It's all in the wording. Have fun.

Well the first I would suggest is to have a party for the children in the day and then one at night for the adults while the children are sleeping, if that is too much of a hassle. Just explain on the invites that you are doing something different this year and wanted to let everyone know that it is only for the kids so that they can enjoy themselves for the New Year's also. If you are friends with your children's friends parents then explain to them, how you feel about the party and let them know it's for the children only. The best way to clarify is to let them know how you feel and what you wish to accomplish this New Year. But it would also be good to include the parents at later time like I said when it's time for the children to go to bed. This way everyone is happy. The children had their fun and then the parents can have their fun.

Okay send out a child's invitation like you do for your child's birthday. The invite should say "KIDS ONLY NEW YEARS PARTY!!! NO ADULTS ALLOWED" in crayon or something. And also make it seem like you are doing the parents a favor. They do not have to pay for a babysitter because you the kids will be going to their own party. You can also specify, no alcohol and no one over 12 (or whatever age group you are thinking about). I am sure no one will be offended and the parents will thank you for doing it. Maybe even toast you at midnight.. lol

Bless you...I would love to send my kids to a trusted adults home for a kids party and be able to celebrate New Years Eve with a few cocktails. I would address the invitation to the children, clarify that it will be a supervised party, when the party starts and when you expect the parents to come get their kids. That is a really nice thing to do for you kids.

I think its a great idea. As long as the other parents are okay with it, if anything - it'll give their parent's a chance to go out and have a good night as well! I think a simple way of clarifying on the invitation is to specifically write out the invitation to the kids. Especially if they are younger, they will probably even get excited at the prospect of getting their own mail / invitation.
My Mom used to do this for me and my siblings when we were younger, and she made the night complete with sparkling cider, pigs in a blanket, happy news years hats. . .
Good luck with it, I'm sure it will make the kids feel great!

Yes it's okay,..........but with a few conditions.
#1. Make sure you have several chaperons, and note this on the invitation.
#2. No sure there is not alcohol what so ever, also mention this in the invation.
#3. Note pick up time, and parents need to come to the door to retrieve the children, or make advance plans for the children to sleep over .

This is such an excellent idea! I agree with the answers above (most of em) in that you can simply word it as "no grown-ups allowed" -- drop of kids at a particular time, etc. List the activities on the invite and anything the kids should bring. What a neat idea! Just don't rent "watership down" for them -- my childhood friend's mother did that and ended up traumatizing 10 6 year old girls for life.

I have gone to kids only parties for 3 years now, i don't know how old your kids are but they can just invite their friends or else you can just put on the invite to: the kids name that you are inviting and not the parents.

I guess it won't be a problem. Make the invitation kiddie-themed, and say just say that in writing... But be sure to get a couple of parents too (just to help you out, in case you run into some trouble).
