I might offend people, but here's my take. I don't care. People (specifcally White people) automatically assume that all black people are ghetto. That's bogus. I'm an educated black woman and I am not ghetto. And this is the killing part, some white people pretend that racism does not exist. That's BS again. People do not realize that a white person represents himself and his gender, while a black person represents himself, his gender, and his race. Now that's sad. It's 2006, going on 2007 and racism is still a major issue. And don't try to deny it because it is, whether you like it or not. Also, I don't think that racism is only directed towards black people, but it's towards Mexicans, Latinos, Jews, and many more races.
Oh, and I don't care if anyone reports this as abuse, that just lets me know that YOU can't handle the truth!
Have a Nice Day!

I read where someone says that racism goes both ways and that is sooooooo true. I know white people that are discriminated against. For example, my friend likes black men and other black women get upset. Personally I don't care if she liked Santa Clause and all his elves, it's her choice. I just wish that racism could end so that everyone could help each other instead of hurting one another.

I agree. Racism is VERY much an issue today. And it makes me mad when people deny that it is. Denying it isnt going to solve the problem. However let me also say that your post comes across as racist too. I do not know you and do not know if you are racist however the way you posted your message comes across as very racist. And if you didnt mean for it to be that way then maybe others do not mean it all the time either.
Dont get me wrong I know some are racist and are not ashamed or afraid to show it. But sometimes people make comments and do not realize that they can be taken as a racist comment.
Now let me go on to say that I am bi-racial. My children a multi-racial. My boyfriend is black and he too has an education and a good job. He takes care of himself and carries himself well. I told this story on here before but it makes me so mad when people consider a black man who isnt "ghetto" to be a sell out etc. I had a friend not that long ago say to me something along the lines of "well you know your boyfriend thinks he is white" My response was "No he knows he is black and it is ignorant comments like that that proves it" Why is it whenever a black man raises above and does something with his life "he thinks he is white" Why cant he be a proud black man who is doing something with himself?
You are right people represent not only themself, not only their family, but their entire race. And I think that is people of all races not just blacks though blacks do have to do it moreso.
When I look at someone no matter what color they are and they are dressed nicely but their children are running around in rags and snot that speaks wonders about them. When I look at someone and they might look clean and taken care of but as soon as they open their mouth they sound "ghetto" no matter what race they are that speaks wonders on them too.
Point is yes racism is very much alive and not until people can agree on that can it be changed

I personally feel that the Majority of Americans do realize that racism does occur today, However I have heard many people claim that it doesn't, and personally that bothers me. I also agree with the fact that its not only whites attacking minorities, but everyone attacking everyone. Its very sad.
I agree with the poster TBS and her statement about some rap/hip hot artist and their lyrics/thought process. They are in a position to really change this place for the better, they have fans all around the world who are influenced but the way they act and things they say. Yet they do nothing but increase negative stereotypes.
And to the poster Jamie, You can't go to a "Historically Black College" because your stupid, not because your white. Some people just aren't built for higher learning. If you weren't stupid then you would know that anyone can go to a Historically Black college, and that non minorities are heavily recruited. If you could read or had the desire to read your history books you would probably know that. Knowledge is Power!

Yes. Racism exists. It is an easy form of bigotry, usually because it is related to skin colour. But it is just another form of intolerance, be it religious, cultural or whatever. It is not only wrong thinking, its lazy thinking too. By applying a label: Black, Latino, Arabic, Jewish, Catholic, poor, etc, it brings up a whole stereotype and one stops looking any further at the individual.
What to do about it? To say it doesn't exist is to ignore it and to ignore it is to condone it. I'm a foreigner, to for me to comment on the US domestic situation may not be the most informed outlook. Hell, that never stopped me before though. It seems to me that the US society is more economically segregated than most European cultures. This inequality is pronounced at all levels, including state and federal spending. Perhaps if more were done at these level to ensure that all citizens had the potential of an equal start in life, that would be a start. Ghettos exist where there is gross social inequality: health, education, crime and job prospects.
Starting to address the basic issues of all citizen may, in the long term, be the start of addressing all citizens as equals.

Believe it or not, I understand what you are saying, and I know there are educated people of all colors and races. You are right, racism is an issue now, as it has been for a long time, and sadly I think it will continue to be for years to come. I don't assume all black people are ghetto, because I see and know many that are not. I also know that alot of white people are prejudiced, and bigoted, and I totally reject their views, but I also think all whites sometimes are included in that group, regardless of their views. I am white, but I have enough common sense to know that racism is wrong and it's stupid. I am ashamed of alot of the things my race says and does when it pertains to bigotry. I see racism from white people, and some blacks as well. It is wrong no matter who it is. As I have said here many times, all of us are humans, all of us have red blood, and all of us have a soul, whether you believe in a hereafter or not. Just remember folks, racism can and does go both ways. Please don't assume just because someone is white, that they are automatically a card-carrying, rebel-flag waving, swastika-tattooed Klan flunkie, or simply a closet racist. They are out there, yes, but a few of us don't belong to that club and never will. And white people, how about putting on thinking caps and get to know someone before you make assumptions about who they are or where they're from? All of us, and I mean all colors, could stand alot of improvement in this area.
A few of us believe in treating people like human beings, and we believe the world would be such a dull, boring, dreadful place if all of us were the same. Some of us believe God put us here to take care of one another, not fight amongst ourselves like animals. We really don't care what color your skin is. We care about what kind of person you are. We are about whether you are of good character. We are about what kind of friend you are.

I agree with you but not about specifically white people. the reason i say this is because we are judged by what we say and do to some your statement a white person doesn't represent himself , his gender , and his race might seem racist i don't but i agree with you racism is an issue not only with white but all races understanding by all for all is something we have too achieve together its what we all have to work towards sorry you are so upset. You have a nice day too.

Racism DOES still occur, it is still an issue, but not all "white people" think that all black people are "ghetto." Nor do all white people think racism is no longer an issue. When I hear someone say that racism is no longer an issue, it bothers ME, too. I have to wonder if these people are really just that myopic, or are that deep in denial, OR is it just an expression of racism itself. But please keep in mind that broad generalizations (that can go both ways) are only contributing to the problem.

Excuse me, but may I submit that white people are also subject to racism. You are assuming that I think you're ghetto because you're black. I am a white woman. I'd be an idiot to assume anything like that. Are all white people idiots? Are we all out to "get over" on people of other races? NO!!!! There are ignorant, intolerant people of all colors and nationalities. We've all seen it and heard it. It does NOT mean that every white person "assumes" anything about those of another color. I do NOT condone racism. I do, however, think you need to rethink your attitude.

Everyone is racist in their own way, there is no way of getting around it. It's human nature.
Yes, alot of other races think that all black people are ghetto. But alot of other races (including some black people) believe that all white people can't dance and are happy all of the time. Some believe that all asian people can't drive, some believe that all Indians sit around eating spicy foods all day. Catch my drift yet? It happens, people are stupid, It's just the way that the world works in this day and time.
There is nothing you can really do about it besides prove them wrong and It seems you are doing that.

Slow down. I do not think all blacks are ghetto people. I am white and I see trashy white people. I work with professional blacks and other races. We all get along. Racism is an ugly word and should not be tolerated. People are people. We are all Americans and should work together to erase racism in all forms. Merry Christmas.

who're you to say that human beings (somewhat whites) with out delay assume that all black individuals are ghetto? Yeah there continues to be racism and there continually will be. yet, that is going for ALL races. keep in mind that there are black racists too. White human beings do not characterize themselves as an complete because a "white individual" includes many alternative races. A "black individual" includes many alternative races besides. Its compared to its purely your race is "black". Ignorant human beings received't comprehend this, yet complaining about it on Yahoo solutions will no longer help a element.
