Hey I just started getting periods today, nobody knows yet, my mom has been bussy all day and isn't even here right now. I have a few questions, first of all, how should I go about telling my mom, she never has really said anything to me before about them or anything. should I tell my sister? she's almost 15. Ok how long do they last every time you get them? I heard the bleeding lasts like 3 days. and how often do you get them, like once every month right? well please tell me any information you have, thanks.

I will tell my mom because like you said your sister is only 15. If you tell your mom she will be able to help you more and give you more good advise. Periods can be a nasty thing if you don't know how to prepare and take care of it. For example, did you know your period will come around the same time of every month(depend on the person, but most of us). You could prepare by always having tampons or pads around that time so you wont mess up your clothes. Periods usually last from 3-5 days. you should also have some pills like midol because it can be painfull for some people. Telling your mom and sister is the best way to go.

I think you should let your mom know as soon as possible. Yes, you should have a period once every month, but some girls when they first start don't have one every month. The amount of tiime they last is different for everyone, but 3 to 5 days is considered normal. You must let your mother know, because you need an adult to talk to you about hygiene, and cramping you may have. If mother is not there for you, talk to a trusted adult like an relative, a teacher or health professional at your school, or maybe a friend's mother if you think they would help.

I wouldn't tell my sister unless she is really understanding. Also, to tell your mom if you are embarrassed tell her in an email. Most of the time they last about 5 to 7 days butyour first may last up to 12. You do normally get them about once a month but the first year or so may be irregular.
