I might offend people, but here's my take. I don't care. People (specifcally White people) automatically assume that all black people are ghetto. That's bogus. I'm an educated black woman and I am not ghetto. And this is the killing part, some white people pretend that racism does not exist. That's BS again. People do not realize that a white person represents himself and his gender, while a black person represents himself, his gender, and his race. Now that's sad. It's 2006, going on 2007 and racism is still a major issue. And don't try to deny it because it is, whether you like it or not. Also, I don't think that racism is only directed towards black people, but it's towards Mexicans, Latinos, Jews, and many more races.
Oh, and I don't care if anyone reports this as abuse, that just lets me know that YOU can't handle the truth!
Have a Nice Day!

I read where someone says that racism goes both ways and that is sooooooo true. I know white people that are discriminated against. For example, my friend likes black men and other black women get upset. Personally I don't care if she liked Santa Clause and all his elves, it's her choice. I just wish that racism could end so that everyone could help each other instead of hurting one another.

Go back to what Bill Cosby said a while back. Look at how all of the black pro athletes and rap stars manage themselves. They have all sorts of money and fame and still have to act like gangbangers, and the young black people who idolize them follow in their music and behavior. There have been equal rights for years. It appears to me that that most black people use racism as an excuse to be lazy.
The youth don't have any other role models to pattern their lives after. It wouldn't be "cool" to be smart and bookish, but it's cool to shoot someone cause Biggie Smalls raps about it and Alan Iversons bodyguards beat up some people and if you ask me it's only getting worse.
Look at all the AIDS in Africa do you think they'll quit having sex? No way but please help us America its all up to you we won't try to help ourselves......it someone elses duty. Look at New Orleans.....we will just sit here and complain.......and the list goes on and on.
You want to talk about the truth? You can't handle the truth.

Who are you to say that people (specifically whites) automatically assume that all black people are ghetto? Yeah there is still racism and there ALWAYS will be. But, that goes for ALL races. Don't forget that there are black racists too. White people don't represent themselves as a whole because a "white person" entails MANY different races. A "black person" entails many different races as well. Its not like its just your race is "black". Ignorant people may not understand this, but complaining about it on Yahoo Answers isn't going to help a thing.

The people saying that, obviouslely haven't been in the groups and culters section.
And if it's any consolation, I am white, but in NO way do I think All Balcks are ghetto. Infact I love studying African history, The empires the kingdoms, the spiritual nature.
And then white man came in and f*cked it all up.
I'm sorry you are at a constant battle over racist views, I also fight them a lot, because of my religion, and at the same time a lot of blacks and mexicans automatically assume that every white person is that way, and I am not.
Racism goes both way, and if anything it is getting worse, not better.
I love your Santa Comment, I Hope our efforts show soon.

Let me tell you..Racism does exist..You are absolutely right. However, it exists in many forms. As a white person..i feel that i am being prejudiced against. For instance, I wanted a job but was told that even though i had the most experience that if a black person or a native American applied i would lose out! You are right though in one respect. It has taken so long for blacks and natives to get anywhere..but times are changing..YES THEY ARE..i can remember as a child and the black people in my neighborhood could not go to town except for on Saturday mornings to do their shopping. Things are changing dear. But it takes all of us to make it work. I would hate to think that you and I could not do something to make it work. By the way.. i have Native American blood in me..

Though racism still exists, it doesn't have to change the way you are. People are going to feel the way they feel. Maybe sometimes in the black community though (and I am black too) you might have to work harder to get something that comes easy to another race, but so long as you get it, why does color matter? Every race has some one who is prejudice, but you have to look past that, and still live life. Don't dwell on it. And the comment about the white man, and black man was racist. No matter what color you are, if you do something in society, people look at that individual as dumb or whatever, not necessarily their race.

People that claim racism is no longer an issue are turning a blind eye to the problem.
One thing, though--I think we are ALL representative of whatever group we are associated with. I am, in this question (at least to some people) representative of the "white" group of people.
You have a nice day (and good weekend) too!

i'm no longer keen on the Williams sisters, fantastically Serena, and that i'm no longer a racist. i somewhat like Venus fairly, yet i does no longer call myself keen on hers. I want Maria, Jelena, Amelie, and that i replaced into also keen on Zina Garrison. i imagine those who play the racism card at the same time as it contains criticizing the Williams sisters are idiots. That reported, I do imagine the Indian Wells crowd took it way too some distance booing Serena lower back in that notorious 2001 very last adversarial to Clijsters, and that i do not blame the Williams sisters for in no way eager to play there lower back. i'd in no way go lower back there if I were them. Racist or no longer, that replaced into purely incorrect of the crew.

Of course racism is alive and well. Every group of people have suffer racism and that includes whites. Is racism ever going to go the way of the dodo bird,I don't think so. It would take a concerted effort by everyone and I know everyone is not interested. Too bad.

BTW, I love your post! I wish more people were like you. Now my response:
People who say racism is gone, or acts like it's gone, have been programmed by PC culture to believe there are no cultural differences, or physical cultural differences. Which is clearly absurd since most asians for example are slightly shorter than most White Americans. And Hispanics have Burritos, Guacamole, etc, in most of there food choices while most White Americans have other things. These are just examples of cultural differences that shape who people are.
Clearly their are cross-overs in all cultures to the point that we all do things the same, but there are clear differences that people like to ignore to make their lives easier.
It's easier to live blind than to see reality. So when someone is a victim of racism, they have no one to talk to about it, unless they're lucky enough to find people who have experienced it as well, and aren't afraid to disscuss it. EVen white people experience racism against them, but many are too afraid to talk about it.

I don't think it is abuse like you think and yes I totally agree it exists and will continue to exist! Even in Mexico there is major racism between the people who have lighter skin to people who have darker skin but it even exists between people of the same race.... however white people are biased against as well.... Due to laws like affermative action any minority is more than likely to get a job or be accepted to a school even if the white person is more qualified but because a quota needs to be met
