Are there any names that are common to both cultures, or how about 1 name Jamaican 1 name American.

The best compromise is first name middle name. If the baby is taking your last name give him the first name and you the middle. Ify our baby has his last name do the opposite. You can also look into all the Jamaican names and see if there are any that you really like and have him look at American names for ones he really likes. That way you are compromising and still staying true to yourselves. Try www.babynamesworld.com and do an Advanced Search based on origin.

Split the names. Make the 1st American and middle Jamaican or vice versa. If you plan on having more than 1 baby, switch the combo each time around.

well Jamaicans don't have weird names usually ... most of them are English names (due to influence of their former British rule). So not sure what the big issue is. Just dont come up with those funky ghetto "American" names for your kid and he or she should grow up to do just fine in society. You can both pick a name and then flip a coin to decide which name is 1st and which goes in the middle. The for the second child ... who ever was in the middle should give the first name and vice versa ... thats fair enough

This one is actually VERY easy to solve. A LOT of traditional Jamaican names are also traditional American names. You can simply select names that are from both cultures!
Here is a site that lists names for both boys and girls:

Go for a combination. Maybe make the first name American and the middle name Jamaican or vice versa.

If it is a girl name it Jasmine if you would like. It sounds somewhat Jamaican. Well if you really can't decide just let one of you choose the name and one the middle name. Or find a name that is a mixture of both. Doing stuff like this is very difficult. Good luck and hope everything turns out well for you.

Pick one American name and one Jamaican name - one for the first name and one for the middle name.
Or try and find a name thats popular in both cultures or that relates to both cultures.

Check out this website:

You will be shocked at how many names are considered Jamaican and you would think would fall under the American category.
Good luck.
