I often see rebates from Staples, Buy.com, and other sites where the end price of the item is $0 after the rebate. Why give it away for free?

Most people will be drawn to the rebate, but never bother to send in for it.

mainly because the vendor is still being paid by the MANUFACTURER when they put the item in their shelves... the vendor does not loose any money from it.. besides not everyone send the rebates.. and they are also rooting on the idea that you'll be buying other items in the store since ur already there..
