Yes! I was told you can play down just not up. I have bought a DS for my daughter for christmas and they sold me some GB advance games as well as DS.

Yes you can. But you cannot play regular Game Boy color or Gameboy games. There are two slots in a DS, the one at the top is for DS games, the one at the bottom is for GBA games.
