I just recently had the same problem. But I got that error messages alot more. I took my computer in and had it fixed. I will give you some scenarios that the tech gave me before he found my problem..Hope one of these helps...
You may have a glitch in a computer program(ex-Windows, internet explorer)
Your hard drive my be full. Try downsizing if you can. Delete old and unnecessary files.
Try emptying your cookies and temporary internet files. Go to Tools, the internet options. Click on delete cookies and then delete temp files. Close your browser once finished and then restart your computer.
If all else fails, have your computer looked at. It runs between 25 and 45 dollars for them to tell you what is wrong. If its something you can fix on your own, you do not have to allow them to do the work.
Good Luck

I don't think you have a virus. After all, what would be the point of a virus that nobbles your system to the extent that it doesn't work?
If you use an online account such as Yahoo as opposed to Outlook Express I suggest you try another browser to see if that works. It maybe that Internet Explorer has got a corrupted system file. Try installing Fastbrowser from http://www.fastbrowser.net and see if that works. I've been using it for years and it is the best browser I have found.
If you think you may have a virus or something nasty on your PC download the free trial of Webroot Spysweeper from http://www.webroot.com/uk/downloads/ and scan it.
Good luck!

Hard to tell without details such as System spec, What browser you're using, Capacity of your hard drive, etc.
Try running an online system check at http://www.pcpitstop.com which will analyse your computer, and flag up any problems (and they also have a messageboard full of diehard PC enthusiasts who should be able to give you more reliable advice than you're liable to get here on YAHOO ANSWERS).
To get straight to it, click here: http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/
Also if you're using Internet Explorer as your main browser, try switching to Mozilla Firefox, available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
