It's an annoyance, but it's a fact of life that you just have to get used to. I found that ibuprofen or Excedrin helped with the pain (Excedrin was great during the day but it has caffeine, so don't try to sleep with it.) I just learned to keep my mouth shut when I knew I was moody, and when you reach the point where it's just another thing to deal with, it's not hard to forget enough to get through the day. I always sleep with a tampon and a long pad for protection. I also found that a hot water bottle (or cuddling up to my hubby's bum--the pressure is perfect) helps with the cramps. Heating pads work, too, but you're not technically supposed to sleep with one of those.
The only time I actually hated getting my period was when it was wildly irregular, compounded by the fact that I was trying to get pregnant. The disappointment each time it showed up is probably what made me more emotional than usual.

I've gotten used to my period, had it for about 3 years now. The best thing to do when you have cramps is excercise. It really helps. If your at home, and they really bother you, go for a lap around the block, they'll go away!
Drink lots of water, to, it always helps me. Don't forget pain killers, those help A LOT during school.

i'm 20 and have had a period since i was 11. it takes a while to get used to it, i don't know how old you are, but i started taking birth control to help with regulating my periods. it's not for everybody but it helps a lot. i used to have long periods and cramps, now i only have a period for like 3 days and i havn't had cramps in over a year. you might think about it, and just because one takes birth control does not mean they are sexually active. i had to wait till i was 18 cause my mom got freaked out at the thought. anyway.. check it out

I'm still having trouble with mine. I'm 16 and the 1st time was a year ago so it still bugs me a lot. I hate going to school and feeling like everyone is just looking at my bottom.

i sometimes do hate the time of the month but im used to it as well. to forget about it, i spend time with my boyfrined, he spoils me more when im on. he buys me chocolate and midol. he always rubs on my tummy so the pain will go away. and it is not uncomfoatble for me to sleep with it, i just wear the right pad.

I read in the paper and heard it on a television programme that men has a time of the month too. Obviously, it's not anything to do with bleeding. We tend to go through a spell very briefly every month that we need more to eat or more of anything really. I asked my friends about this (male friends) and they agreed that they get this thing too briefly once a month.

i usually take midol for cramps. but you get used to it after a while. it's part of "growing" up. every girl goes through it. after you have had your period for a while, when it comes to that "time of the month" you just figure "oh well" just another day.
