Often topsoil is available for free. Persons building houses, excavating for pools and ponds need to find sites to dispose of top soil. If you are wanting to acquire topsoil you might contact a developer or pool company or check on craigslist.org. Otherwise top soil mixed with compost and sand costs about $34 per cubic yard. Several kids of sand are available the most expensive being playground sand for about $45 per cubic yard.

Topsoil can be delivered by the cubic yard. approx. 4 yards delivered should run around $60.00. You can then add more soil for less. For example you should be able to get 9 or 10 yards for $85.00 or so.

The previous poster is correct on the bag prices.

Topsoil is around $1.00 for a 40-50 lb bag.

Sand, maybe $2 depending on how "clean" or fine it is.
