I have set the power level to automatically shut down screen and hard disc at 10 minutes and standby or hibernate at 20 minutes. It never works and computer stays on all the time. When I try to save, I get message INDICATES TWO REVISION LEVELS ARE IMCOMPATIBLE.

Try reversing your instructions. Do a standby or hybernate at 10 minutes and shut down screen and hard disc at 20 minutes.

the system can't standby if the hard disk is off. hibernate is the same. the system needs to copy the current session onto the hard drive in order to standby or hibernate.

Maybe you should try third-party softwares. I tried a program called Auto Shutdown once. It worked fine. If my machine has no activity (like our mouse or keyboard) input for a predefined time, it will go off. other options beside turn off may also available. just use google or yahoo to search for it.
