That is a good question for Karen Hughes. Bush had her make the Battle Plan.

Go big Red Go

First of all, lowering taxes is a bit of a delusion. The government needs X amount of dollars to pay the bills. If it is not getting that money from taxes collected, it's borrowing the money by issuance of bonds.
The sale of bonds still takes money out of the economy, just like taxation. Given the deficit spending of the current administration, the effects of the tax cuts have been offset by government borrowing. Tax cuts only benefit the economy when government spending is reduced as well.
To answer your question, in my opinion, the tax cut and the Iraq invasion were both blunders of the Bush administration. I don't believe it to be a Republican error. To blame an entire party for the mistakes of its leadership is wrong. By that logic, every Democrat would lie under oath concerning sexual indiscretions.

Your question is based on a false premise. It's probably not your fault, you were probably educated in a public school.

Real World Economics 101. Lowering tax rates raises tax income. That's what happened when GWB's lowered Americas tax rates. There was more tax income not less. When tax rates go up, tax income goes down. The reason is that when people get to keep a little bit of their own money it stays in the economy and gets used over and over and over. When government taxes us the money is removed from the economy and is lost.

So your question should have been, if Liberals raised taxes, would we have won in Iraq?

PS: We aren't losing in Iraq. That is another Liberal Myth!

two things have hindered us in this war. not being able to do what needs to be done with strength and power. we have been weakened by the pacifists and civil liberties groups that wont let us fight. Second it is the fact that a stable, self sustaining govt takes time to build and allow them to control. It took the USA 10 years to come up with the final draft of our Independence and most of the populace had the same Ideas of freedom. The people of Iraq have to first be shown how to get out of the suppression mind set before they understand what their freedoms really are. Every generation they have known were beaten down and beaten down and that is all they know. Its like an abused girl friend they keep going back to the abusive man because they think they deserve it. Its a mind set. that has to be overcome first. Standing up for yourself is something that most people in this country take for granted because its an understandable freedom but most people throughout the world dont have that understanding

all the money in the US wouldn't speed that up.

I'm not sure if any of us will live long enough to see a friendly Iraq, and I'm not clear what lowering taxes would do concerning the war.

What?! I fail to see what the two have to do with each other. More money NEVER solved anything without a solid plan. Just look at our schools, road systems, and government - they keep getting more money and are they getting better. I am now dumber for answering this question, thanks.

No, because they would have lost the support of the GOP, if they raised taxes. Sad, but true...maybe that is why he did it...to rally support of his party around him, in the face of radical over spending.

First of all, we are winning the war. Second of all, if they had raised the taxes, this economy would be still in recession and high unemployment.

Probably not. But the economy would be better. The debt would be less heavy
