The IDEA of Homeland Security is a good one. The implementation will never work. The problem is politics. It does not matter if you are Dem or Rep, the politicians are not going to be able to come to a solution and actually implement it.
Let me rephrase that. They will never implement an effective security policy. They will do a bunch of little, ineffective stuff that will cost millions, but nothing that works as well as it should.

One of the founding principles of America is the separation of power. This should apply to all government agencies not just civil politics. So, yes, it's a waste & just created more beauacracy.

Much needed and mishandled. It is very much needed and it has made some differences but it leaves alot to be desired. Look at all the illegals still coming in from all over the place (even from countries that sponser terrorist).

Everyone wants to feel safe in his or her own country. Home land security is just new but what it has going for it is an a so far.

Well the way I see it people think Illegal immigrants can get welfare. If that is the case then our homeland security is junk..... WASTE

It is the simplest way and oldest method to manage the herds - pardon the people - with an ' outer enemy tale ' as the underdeveloped countries' governors and dictators used, certainly good and smart USA people will understand what is happening in their country(REALLY THEIR COUNTRY).
