The mother signs the birth certificate and then puts the father's name on it afterwards, if she wants to.....she doesn't have to put your name on it! And they don't rush the birth certificate to you immediately after the baby is born, it is usually hours before they bring you all the paperwork. Finally, I do think in time she would appreciate the name, it is very unique and I am sure you put a lot of effort into imagining ABean INA Jar's future.....that name wouldn't get his rear whipped on the playground daily or anything.

I am sure you are just kidding around with this one.. reminds me of a joke that ends with the punchline " the uncle named his niece and nephew Danice and Danephew" Anyhow, Abean INA Jar, is far from a good name no matter how you look at it, other than the laughability factor. She has to sign the birth certificate anyhow, and if she doesnt want the name she wont sign it. End of story.

Are you sure your name is Clayton and not Derek? You sound just like my brother. And yes she can change it. You and your wife both have to sign the birth certificate and then the registar will take it back and type it up. Then she brings it back to have her look over for any misprints before she sends the final copy in to be formalized. But you should try maybe she won't notice!

ha ha ha ha ha good one. I'm afraid she'll stop you. even if she's passed out for any reason. YOu probably both have to name the baby. maybe not.
Instead of actually naming the baby ABean Ina Jar, just pretend that you did. Fake her out and tell her that, then be like Noooot!

First off...the entire united states has the same law with name changes and you can LEGALLY change a birth name for up to 12 months after the birth without charge. Secondly, I was in the operating room and my husband had to fill out the name.....they still brought it to me when I got out to okay the papers. She will still see it and if she refuses to sign it, then it won't happen. Either way, get a life and pick a real name.

They don't do the name thing until many hours after having the baby. Someone who deals with birth records will come when both you and your wife are present and awake. Nice try though.

hmmm well Im afraid you wouldnt be able to do that. Epidurals dont knock you out they only numb you from the waist down. Nice try though.

LMAO actually its the mother who fills out the birth certificate and signs it. I think you should back off before she refuses to list you as the father on it lol.

im not 100% sure but I think the naming and paper work gets done by the mama because they know its 100% her baby ... any one could walk up in there and think they're the daddy.
