I am looking for a gay bar in LA that plays more rock/alternative music as opposed to bubble gum dance. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am from NYC, and I miss the East Village scene there.

I'm not from LA, but I've visited a few times. Have you checked out Fubar - while not really rock, it has much more of an east village feel. It's on Santa Monica Blvd before Fairfax. Also, you don't mention the type of crowd you are into, but Faultline is leather and plays more rock music. I haven't been to Motherlode (next to the abbey, so I don't know the type of music, but one of my friends - an east village type guy - said he had a good time there). I found a bunch more listings here: http://losangeles.gaycities.com/
