I have seen this done numerous times. If you go back to work when baby is 6 weeks-3 months old, they will sleep a lot. Best things to have at work for baby is a swing, a porta-crib or pack-n-play or playpen (where baby can sleep), and a front pack. Many times baby just wants to be close, and will be happy to be in the front pack while you work, and many times they will fall asleep there and you can continue to work while they are sleeping in the front pack, or you can put baby down when he's fast asleep.
Having baby with you will allow you more bonding time, and will allow you to nurse your baby as much as possible, which is best for baby and mom (so many benefits for both)...and if it's a choice of this or paying for day care, you save money. If it's a choice of having baby with you, or leaving baby with Grandma, it's still best to have baby with you.
I would highly encourage it, and if at some point it doesn't work out, you can always make different arrangements at that time.

I take my daughter to work with me. I'm in the same situation...I work for my father's law firm. My office is big enough so I can bring a pack n play and toys. It works out pretty well actually. She plays with her toys (she's 6 months old now but have been bringing her with me since she was about 2 months old) and my computer has a DVD player so I'll pop a baby einstein movie in when she gets really fussy. She's starting to teeth and get needy though since I'm with her 24/7 so my father has offered to help out with a daycare that's right next door. I'm looking into it but not definate yet. For the most part, I'm able to get my work done and she even got on a schedule on her own. We get here around 8:30 every morning, I nurse her, she plays until about 10 and then takes a nap until 11/11:30...then it's lunch time. Then around 2 she takes another nap. I never thought with breast feeding I'd get her on a schedule but she fell into it on her own and its great! Another thing that helps, there is park close by so sometimes we'll go watch kids during my lunch break...it gives us both some fresh air and a little change of scenery. Like I said, so far it's been going well but she's showing signs of wanting more attention from me. I brought in a jumperoo and it helps a lot but the past couple of days it hasn't made much difference. She'll probably go into daycare next month. It's going to be so hard for me but we need my income and I need to be able to do my job too. Always have a binky (if you're using them)...my daughter loves toys that play music and light up so most of her play things are like that and keep her entertained for a good while. The pack n play provides a safe play and sleep spot for her and fits perfectly in my office. Hope some of this helps and best wishes!

I work for my dad and uncle. I bring my daughter with my every day. I work m-f 8-4:30. I feel very blessed and I would not work if I was not allowed to bring her with me. She is almost 3 and is getting very bored now. If there's any way you can, I would ask now to work from home part of the week. I am going to start doing that. I can get just as much done at home as in the office.

Me too! It is fairly easy at first, as they mostly sleep. I had mine in the infant carrier, unless she was having a bottle. Later, we set up a playpen so she could play and nap. It's a bit difficult if you are alone and the baby's crying and you're on the phone, but most people who know you are a family business will understand. Also, at first, my bf and I would each have her part of the day. I work days, he was 2nd shift. He'd stay home in the AM and drop her off to me in the PM. Decent arrangement at that age.

I take my daughter to work with me on Mon, Wed, and Fri. I have to admit that my daughter hardly ever cries and is one of the happiest babies I have ever seen, so, taking care of her and still trying to get my work done is rather simple. I do not have a lot of work to do at my job so that makes it easy as well. If you are constantly busy at your job, it may be hard to tend to the baby and get all of your work done. I keep a lot of stuff here for her to play with and I also have a baby bjourn. Sometimes, she likes walking around with me and checking everything out. I would recomend trying it because daycare is RIDICULOUSLY expensive. Good luck and congrats!

I stayed home with my children until they went to school. I worked half days until they were in full time and then went back full time. I am glad I did.
I have friends that took their babies to work and unless the work place offers child care I'd suggest not taking them. One of my friends said that she started taking her child and that it started jeporadizing her job because she couldn't get anything done.
Find a reliable daycare provider, family member or daycare at work or stay home until they are old enough.
